We've been ready... Mother Nature just hasn't been cooperating.

The past couple of days—and again this evening—we've been watching the radar more than the road.

Our trucks are loaded, routes are planned, and we're ready to get to work. Unfortunately, these scattered showers have made it difficult to find an adequate treatment window.

At Simply Safer Kansas City, we'd rather delay your service than perform a treatment when conditions aren't right. Waiting for the proper window helps us provide the quality results you expect and deserve.

If your service has been delayed, thank you for bearing with us. As soon as the weather gives us a break, we'll be back on the road working through the schedule as quickly as possible.

🌽 Seeing swarms of "sweat bees" around your yard? They probably aren't sweat bees at all.
We've been getting a lot of calls lately about what people think are sweat bees. In almost every case, they're actually hover flies (commonly called corn flies).
The good news? They're harmless pollinators. They don't bite or sting, and they're simply taking advantage of the abundance of pollen during corn pollination.
You might be surprised to hear that Simply Safer Kansas City will not treat for them. Here's why...
Treating these insects would also impact many of the beneficial pollinators and insects visiting your yard—honeybees, native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial species that help pollinate your flowers, fruits, and vegetables.
🍅 The last thing we want to do is reduce the pollinators that help produce your tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, pumpkins, and beautiful flower beds.
The good news is that this is only temporary. As the surrounding corn finishes pollinating and matures, these hover flies naturally disperse and their numbers quickly decline.
Sometimes the best pest control decision is knowing when not to spray. Protecting beneficial insects is just as important as controlling nuisance pests.

Tick Season Is Here — Know How to Remove Them Safely

If you find a tick attached, how you remove it matters more than most people realize.

✔️ Use fine-tip tweezers
✔️ Grab the tick as close to the skin (mouth area) as possible
✔️ Pull straight out with steady, even pressure

Avoid squeezing the body or twisting—this can increase the chance of the tick releasing harmful bacteria into your body.

That small tip in the graphic? That’s the part anchored into your skin. The goal is to remove that cleanly.

After removal:
• Clean the area
• Monitor for symptoms
• Reach out to your doctor if anything seems off

Ticks are active right here in the Kansas City area—especially around shaded edges, landscaping, and fence lines.
