RECEIVING BIDS FOR YOUR NEXT PROJECT? HERE’S WHAT TO LOOK FOR!
When you’re getting bids for an excavating, septic, or construction project, it can be tempting to simply choose the lowest number. But the lowest bid isn’t always the lowest cost in the long run.
Before choosing a contractor, take a few minutes to compare what is actually included in each bid:
🔹 Is the bid complete?
Make sure you know exactly what work is included and what isn’t. A lower bid may leave out important parts of the project that you’ll end up paying for later.
🔹 Does it cover the project from START TO FINISH?
A good bid should clearly outline the entire scope of work, including preparation, installation, materials, labor, cleanup, and anything else needed to complete the project properly.
🔹 What materials are being used?
Don’t be afraid to ask what type and quality of materials are included. Two bids can look very different simply because they aren’t providing the same materials.
🔹 Are permits, inspections, or other necessary items included?
Ask questions upfront so there aren’t surprises halfway through the project.
🔹 Is the contractor properly equipped for the job?
The right equipment and experience can make a huge difference in getting a project completed efficiently and correctly.
🔹 What happens if unexpected issues come up?
Excavation and septic work can uncover surprises. Make sure you understand how unforeseen work or additional costs will be handled.
🔹 Is the contractor easy to communicate with?
You should feel comfortable asking questions and understanding exactly what you’re paying for.
💰 Remember: Don’t just compare the bottom line…compare the VALUE.
A bid that is a little higher may actually include substantially more work, better materials, proper preparation, and a complete start-to-finish project.
We believe in being upfront about what your project requires and providing a clear understanding of the work we’re doing.
