We are deeply saddened by the passing of our client and friend, Kris Illum. She had the smile of an angel. Her laugh was contagious. Her hugs warmed our heart. She was brave and courageous in her fight against cancer. We are grateful for the opportunities we had to care for the family home. Our hearts go out to the Illum family.

We are honored and privileged to roll up our sleeves and offer our sweat equity to help support our local communities. Supporting the communities in which we live and work is part of the culture at Calm Home Solutions and we strive to make a difference.

Emily and Janna volunteer at a warehouse that serve foster families. The warehouse provides foster kiddos clothing and hygiene items while they are in care.

The foster care statistics for Kansas are alarming and we want to do our part to help those kiddos in need.

7,192 children in foster care in Kansas. Of all the counties, Sedgwick has the most children in out-of-home placement, 1,043 (14.5 percent).

Length of Stay in Foster Care
The average length of stay in foster care for children reunited with their families is nine months; for children adopted is 36 months; and 37 months for children who age out, as of June 30, 2017.

Foster Care Licensing
Foster parents play a vital role in the child welfare process. Kansas currently has 2,755 licensed foster homes.

1) Recognize your fear. Define it. Fear is like a little kid. The more you ignore it, the louder it gets.
2) Think of one baby step you can take to move toward, not away, from your fear. Your fear can't hide if you approach it head on.
3) Ask others for help. Sometimes just speaking the source of your fear outloud helps diffuse it.
4) Reward yourself. For every step you take in overcoming your fear, give yourself the recognition you deserve.
