We are wishing a Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers especially the father of our Founder & Principal Consultant, Cassandra C. Smith MHRIR SPHR who describes her father as

“a Retired Railroad Engineer for United Pacific Railway, Navy Veteran, Retired Self Employed Real Estate Landlord & Rehab Entrepreneur who started his career as a newspaper boy and construction apprentice.”

“He is the man who taught me about business, politics, real estate, the importance of reading the newspaper 🗞️, work ethic, sacrifice, caring less about people’s negative’s opinions (including his own at times haha), how to put air in my tire 🛞 (even though I still will probably ask the nearest man around haha), to live my life including living and working in different cities.

He is one of our country’s hero (Navy Vietnam Vet) and while we don’t always see eye to eye on every topic including but not limited to some politics, we share some fundamental principles that show up in who I am and how I lead today.

Our Founder and Principal Consultant, Cassandra Smith MHRIR SPHR met with one of her mentees this week who flew in town with friends to visit for .

Cassandra Smith MHRIR SPHR and Taryn met as a result of Taryn’s resourcefulness and resilience. At the time, Taryn was an advertising student earning her bachelor’s degree from a college in Florida and seeking post undergraduate career opportunities.

She found Catrice HR on a business directory seeking a full time position with a Cassandra Smith MHRIR SPHR.
Taryn was drawn to Catrice HR’s mission and desired to work under a woman of color.

While Catrice HR didn’t have any open opportunities, something about Taryn’s initiative stood out to Cassandra Smith MHRIR SPHR and she decided to take her under her wing as a virtual mentee.

Cassandra mentored Taryn throughout her completion of her degree in Florida, while Taryn studied abroad in London & Paris, and until Taryn landed her first post graduation position in Philadelphia.

One year later, Taryn and Cassandra are meeting in person and now Taryn feels less like a traditional mentee and more like a little sister who Cassandra has grown to love and continues to support when she has a question.

Before Catrice HR existed, there was Cassie Catrice Consulting — a brand organically built through relationships, trust, and Cassandra C. Smith, MHRIR (“Cassie Catrice S.”)’s natural ability to help people navigate their careers and workplaces with greater clarity and confidence.

Long before she officially launched a consulting company, people already knew Cassie Catrice S. as “the HR person.”

The person who reviewed resumes after work.
The person who coached friends before interviews.
The person colleagues called when workplace situations became complicated.
The person who could see potential in people before they fully saw it in themselves.

What started as resume writing and interview preparation quickly evolved into career coaching, leadership guidance, and workforce development support for professionals across her network.

At the same time, Cassie Catrice S. was building her own career across complex organizational environments — gaining experience in Human Resources, Talent Management, Workforce Planning, Leadership Development, Employee Engagement, Succession Planning, Organizational Effectiveness, and Talent Strategy within Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 environments spanning healthcare, consulting, business services, government, government contracting, communications, manufacturing, advertising, and other evolving industries.

But what shaped Catrice HR most was not just the corporate experience.

It was the human experience behind it.
