🚨 Important Update for Adult Family Home Providers! 🚨

The Health Care Authority (HCA) is contemplating a statewide contract for incontinence and urological supplies for Apple Health clients. If approved, this would mean that a single mail-order vendor could dominate the supply of these crucial products, potentially sidelining our current network of qualified suppliers who truly understand the unique needs of adult family homes.

Dear AFH Providers,

We're excited to spread awareness on the Adult Family Home inspection process, launching May 1, 2026, by the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). This new approach aims to enhance resident health, safety, and well-being while addressing inspection backlogs caused by the pandemic.

Key components include:

Entrance Onsite, Inspection Tour, Resident Sample Selection (interviews, care observation, medication review, record review), Administrative Records Review, Provider Interview, and Exit Conference.

To ensure a seamless process, please have the following documents ready: resident and staff lists, complete resident records (care plans included), personnel files, AFH succession plan, and liability insurance proof.

If any documents are unavailable during the inspection, they must be submitted electronically within 24 hours to avoid deficiency citations.
