Our founder, Olivia, will be presenting at Nonprofit Association of Washington 2026 Washington State Nonprofit Conference!

Psychological safety shapes how teams communicate, make decisions, and sustain their work over time. We’re looking forward to being part of a conversation that continues to push the sector toward healthier and more sustainable ways of working.

If you’re attending the conference, we’d love for you to join the session on May 11th in Tacoma!

If everything feels urgent, it’s usually a signal, not a coincidence.

Most teams we work with are not lacking effort. They care deeply about the mission and are doing everything they can to keep things moving. But over time, the work starts to feel heavier than it should.

What’s often missing is not capacity, it’s clarity.

Clarity in roles, in decision-making, and in how work actually moves across the organization.

When that clarity is not in place, even strong teams start to feel the strain. The work continues, but it becomes harder to sustain.

If things have been feeling heavier behind the scenes, it may be time to take a closer look at how the work is actually functioning.

We are opening space for organizations that want to understand what is not working and what needs to shift.

During transitions, growth, or periods of strain, the challenge is often not a lack of vision. It is a lack of infrastructure. Systems are stretched past what they were built to hold and critical knowledge lives in a few people’s heads instead of shared tools.

Interim and part time infrastructure leadership helps organizations steady that gap. This support is not meant to replace permanent leadership. It is designed to create enough clarity and structure so the organization can move forward with continuity and confidence into its next phase.

We’ve refined our services at EmpowerTactics.

The work hasn't changed, but the pattern became impossible to ignore. Most organizational strain is not a people problem, it’s a structure problem. Our work now centers explicitly on internal infrastructure.

That includes:
~Organizational systems
~Policy and governance infrastructure
~Time limited or part time leadership support
~Grant Capacity Support

This clarity allows us to do what we do best: help organizations build structure that supports the people inside them.

There is a clear theme in the organizations that resonate with our work.

These are teams who recognize the early signs of strain.
They see when policies no longer match practice, when roles start to blur, when everything feels urgent, or when decision making depends on who has the most capacity that day.

Instead of accepting this as normal, they begin asking a more strategic question:

What needs to shift internally so our people can breathe and our mission can grow?

These are the organizations EmpowerTactics is designed for.
~Teams who want clarity instead of constant reaction.
~Leaders who are ready to build systems that feel supportive rather than restrictive.
~Groups who understand that sustainable impact begins behind the scenes.

You do not need to do it all.
Sometimes the smartest move is to hand off one project so you can focus on the work only you can do.

EmpowerTactics is now booking select short-term engagements for nonprofit leaders who need:

• A grant reviewed before deadline
• Policies refreshed and aligned
• A manual built so the knowledge is not only in your head
• A strategic plan session that gets everyone on the same page

No long-term contracts. Just focused, high-impact work that clears a bottleneck and frees you to lead.

A year ago, we partnered with a team that had been through three directors in five years and trust was thin. People were waiting for the “new person” to tell them what to do.

Instead of starting with a strategy doc, we asked a simple question:

“What’s already working, and what do you wish people would stop pretending is fine?”

That opened the floodgates and it taught me something I’ve carried with me since: People don’t need more direction. They need a seat at the table, space to be honest, and systems that honor their voice.

Shared decision-making is how you start to rebuild.
