We are grateful that Manuscript Studio did not suffer damage from the recent fire at the Historic Onancock School.
Yet, due to the ongoing restoration efforts, our stationery shop is closed to in-person business for several weeks at least.

We are continuing transcription services and bookbinding work, so please reach out if you are interested in such.

Also, we’re happy to schedule appointments via video chat for anyone wishing to shop stationery items. We’ll schedule local pick-up arrangements or ship purchased items.
Call Stephanie (757-387-9956) to make an appointment.

Our Spring Manuscript Quarterly subscription box will be available, as scheduled, the week of March 1.

Bayside Transcriptions is now Manuscript Studio! We've updated our name to better reflect what we do and who we are. It's all about the handwritten word - from transcription of handwritten documents and researching historical records, to promoting letter writing through our retail stationery shop.

Manuscript Studio is here to help preserve handwritten records of the past and keep the letter-writing tradition alive. We are also learning the craft of hand bookbinding and offer many styles of handmade books in our stationery shop at Historic Onancock School, Studio 101.

Please note that we have a new email address and website: [email protected] and manuscript-studio.com

We're now open Wed-Fri 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. See you soon at Manuscript Studio!

Come see us and connect in person! We have made the decision to focus on real-world relationships, connecting with customers, neighbors, and fellow businesses without the social media platforms. So, while you won't see any more posts from us here, we invite you to visit us in-person or connect with us through our website to see updates and product photos.

We are open year-round in Studio 101 in the Historic Onancock School.

Wed-Fri 11am-4pm and Sat 10am-2pm, plus the special events hosted by HOS: monthly Wine Wednesdays 5pm-7pm on the first Wednesday of every month, the Artisans Guild Tour in November, and Holiday Markets in December.

"What's in the press?"

This week we're working on multiple, handmade creations. Today our latest tear-off memo pads should be coming out and placed on the shelf. These 3.5x5.5-inch pads feature a sturdy backboard and Japanese chiyogami cover.

Yesterday the covers for the pamphlet-style, hand-stitched notebooks were added to the press. Soon, we'll cut the interior paper and bind it all together with elegant hand stitching.

Check back again to find out "what's in the press" next!
