Yesterday, I had one of those moments that makes your heart sink.

I got home after working remotely, grabbed my laptop bag from the car... and found water everywhere.

Somehow, I had placed my bag on its side without realizing my cup wasn’t completely sealed. My MacBook was wet. 😱

Immediately, the “what ifs” started racing through my mind.

❗What if it’s ruined?
❗What if I lose everything?

My first call wasn’t to Apple.

It was to my IT support.

He calmly told me what to do next, and when I arrived at the Apple Store, I found out something I had almost forgotten.

✨ I had AppleCare.
✨ My files were backed up to the cloud.
✨ My laptop could be repaired.

As my panic faded, I realized something.

Those protections didn’t magically appear the day I needed them. My IT partner had already helped me put them in place long before the emergency happened because he knew they could make all the difference someday.

That got me thinking...🤨

Isn’t that what great employers do?

Most of us don’t spend much time thinking about disability insurance, life insurance, or other benefits until life takes an unexpected turn.

When that happens, our benefits become so much more than a website or papers in a packet.

They become peace of mind for employees and the family counting on them. ♥️

That’s why I love helping people understand not just what their benefits are, but why they matter.

Benefits aren’t just about preparing for Open Enrollment.

They’re about preparing people for the unexpected. ❤️

Has a benefit ever helped you through a season you never saw coming? Your experience could help someone else one day.

If you’ve ever had a Dole Whip at Disney World, you know one thing... 🍍🍦

You have to eat it quickly because, on a hot Florida day, it starts melting almost immediately!

A few weeks ago, I was enjoying my Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Dole Whip when I had a crazy thought...
A flexible spending account (FSA) might just be the Dole Whip of employee benefits! 🤣

You have to use it so you don’t lose it!

When we first enrolled in an FSA, I was nervous about that rule. We didn’t want to set aside money only to lose it.

So we started small.

As we became more comfortable, we increased our election. By the time our oldest child needed braces, we felt confident maxing it out. 🤓

It made paying the orthodontist much easier, lowered our taxable income, and gave us money at the beginning of the plan year when we needed it most.

Over the years, it’s become one of my favorite employee benefits because it encourages you to take care of yourself instead of putting off the care you need. 🩺

✨ Just remember... much like a melting Dole Whip, FSA dollars don’t last forever.

If your plan has a “use it or lose it” rule, don’t let those dollars melt away before your deadline.

What are your favorite ways to use your FSA dollars? Your comment might help someone avoid losing money at the end of the year! 🎉

During our recent trip to Magic Kingdom, The Hall of Presidents was a Tier 1 experience for me.

Now if you’re a Disney Adult, you’re thinking, “but you can’t get a Lightning Lane for it!” You’re right, but you can use the same strategy when planning a practically perfect trip! 🤣

Seeing the show for the first time felt a little extra special knowing America’s 250th anniversary was just days away!

I walked out of the theatre thinking about one word: freedom.

America has been through some very difficult seasons. And because of those seasons, we value and appreciate the freedoms we enjoy today.

✨The freedom to learn from history.
✨The freedom to grow as individuals and as a country.
✨The freedom to change direction or try something new.
✨The freedom to use the gifts God has given us to serve others.

I get to experience that every day through my business.

✨ I’m grateful for the female entrepreneurs that paved the way before me. They knocked down barriers so I didn’t have to face the same ones.
✨ I'm grateful for the incredible support in my community, especially the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce. I was a new entrepreneur, but I was never alone.
✨ I’m grateful for colleagues, referral partners, and clients God brings into my life. Thank you for believing in me, opening doors, and trusting me to care for your employees.
✨ And I’m grateful for my family and friends who continue to pray for me and remind me that God has a plan for my business.

To me, that's part of the American story: the opportunity to keep learning, keep growing, and pursue the calling God places on our hearts.❤️

I'm incredibly grateful to live in a country where those opportunities exist.

But even more than that, I'm grateful that God faithfully guides my steps and gives those freedoms purpose. His guidance doesn't depend on a holiday, and His faithfulness doesn't end when the fireworks do.

Happy 250th anniversary, America! ❤️🤍💙

Here's to celebrating the freedom to keep dreaming, keep growing, and keep answering God's call! 🎇

What does freedom mean to you?

Happy 626 Day! 💙

Stitch reminds me of one of my favorite family memories.

Several years ago, we were at Disney World when my daughter fell in love with a giant stuffed Stitch. I kept saying, "No, we don't have room in the suitcase!"

She finally said, "I'll carry him through the airport and hold him on the plane."

How could I say no?

Seeing her proudly carrying Stitch through the airport is one of those moments I'll never forget. If you're an Inside Out fan, you'd probably call it a core memory. 🟠🟣🟡🟢

That memory also reminds me of why I love floating holidays.
Sometimes the most meaningful day of the year isn't an official holiday. It's a day spent making memories with the people you love.

One of the most meaningful employee benefits is giving people the flexibility to choose what matters most to them.
Because benefits are about people, not plans.

They're about giving people the freedom to create moments they'll remember for a lifetime. 🟠🟣🟡🟢

If your employer offered a floating holiday, what fun or meaningful reason would you use it?

Happy Stitch Day! 💙

I’ve followed Simon Sinek for years, so finally seeing him speak on stage was one of my favorite moments of SHRM26! 🎉

He also gave me a new perspective on employee benefits.

We often think of benefits as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Those are important.

But what if some of the most valuable benefits an employer can offer aren't found in a benefits guide?

🎯 What if they're psychological safety, empathy, honest communication, leadership that genuinely cares, and opportunities to develop human skills?

Investing in people may be one of the most impactful employee benefits an organization can offer.

That's good news for employers of every size! 😀

✨ I’d love to hear your story. What's one way an employer has invested in your growth that made a lasting impact?

The countdown is on! In just a few days, I'll be heading to the SHRM Conference Orlando. 🌞

It's going to be extra special this year! When John Maxwell, Simon Sinek and Oprah are keynote speakers and the conference is next door to The Most Magical Place on Earth, how could I say no? 🤣

Let me know if you're going too!

06/07/2026

If you watch this video, you'll see that I missed the bullseye.

You'll also notice I'm celebrating like I won a championship. 🤣

That's because my goal wasn’t to hit the center of the target.

My goal was simply to get the ax to stick and do a little better than I did the last time.

Progress is worth celebrating! 🎉

As I thought about it later, I realized I didn’t make progress on my own.

I had help from someone with more experience who asked questions, explained my options, and helped me see what I was missing.

The same is true with employee benefits.

Before employees can make good benefit decisions, they need to understand what they're trying to accomplish.

🎯 Managing a new diagnosis

🎯 Saving for retirement

🎯 Buying new glasses

🎯 Preparing for braces

It's hard to hit a target that you haven't identified.

That's why I'm such a strong believer in year-round benefits education.

Life changes. Goals change. Needs change.

The employees who get the most value from their benefits aren't necessarily the ones who hit the bullseye every time.

They're the ones who understand their target, uncover their blind spots, seek guidance when they need it, and keep making adjustments along the way.

What goal are you working toward right now? 🎯

🌴 Summer vacation season is here and it got me thinking...

We usually watch YouTube, save restaurant recommendations, and make a list of everything we want to do on the trip. Once it’s booked, we often stop looking until it’s time to check the weather app and pack.

The funny thing is, studies have shown that simply anticipating a vacation can boost happiness and reduce stress. Who doesn’t need more of that? 🥳

I’m pretty sure that vacations would feel even more relaxing if we spent a little time throughout the year dreaming, planning, and learning instead of trying to do everything at the last minute.

The same is true for employee benefits.

A lot of people only look at their benefits during Open Enrollment and put it away until the next year, forgetting benefits are designed to help throughout the year.

I think the best approach to vacations and benefits is the same:

Don’t wait until the last minute to discover what’s available to you. 😀

Where are you headed this summer?

If travel isn’t in the plans this year, spend a few minutes dreaming about a future destination. The anticipation might give you a little boost of happiness today! 🥰
