Leader envy is often demonstrated by armchair quarterbacks who can't throw a spiral. They freely criticize what they themselves lack the competence or trust of others to do. They desperately seek influence, and are afforded little (or none). The best approach to these people is to the ignore them instead of letting them rent free space in your head. As Jude wrote, they are "clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever."
