Thank you to everyone that helped Alex reach the next chapter of his Journey. This page was originally set-up to fundrais to get Alex to st.louis ,USA to have an operation called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy)
We have reached our fundraising target and are no longer actively fundraising. The page will now be used to share with you all The next chapters of Alex's SDR story and raise awareness of

this life changing operations. Of all the surgical and medical procedures currently performed on patients with cerebral palsy (CP), selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) has undergone more thorough scientific scrutiny than any other (including orthopedic surgery). Accumulated evidence and our own experience indicate that SDR is an excellent option for selected patients with spastic cerebral palsy. We believe parents and patients should inquire about SDR as a part of the management of CP before the patient undergoes orthopedic surgery. The Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy Procedure involves sectioning (cutting) of some of the sensory nerve fibers that come from the muscles and enter the spinal cord. This means alexs pain will be taken away and he will be able to walk. please ask us if you would like to know more or you can look up all information about the operation through the link below

Alex will be travelling to the USA in July to Have his SDR operation thanks to the kindness and compassion of so many people. People gave there precious time and money to Alex to make this little boys wish come true.

We are heading home this evening on Aer Lingus back to Cork. We are so so proud of this young man. Alex has worked so hard since getting Sdr he works tirelessly every day of every week to keep himself mobile. This agilik will give Alex the ability to walk more comfortably and for more distance. Pa & I will always do our utmost to find the best for him because he deserves it and more 💙💪

Alex trying out Dez's new step mill in the gym. Just because its summer holidays from school doesnt mean this guy gets a break. We are blessed to have Dez in Alex's life with all the advice & support he gives along with fantastic strength & conditioning for Alex 💙

Next week are off to a casting appointment next in Enable Ireland to get Casts to wear at night time while he is in bed to get a good stretch of his muscles.

As usual Alex never complains and just gets on with it. He is also SUPER excited to start camp 2moro 💙

So proud of this young man. He has wanted to try my sewing machine for ages after doing a sewing workshop at the Crann Centre youthclub a few months back but I was petrified of him damaging himself on a big machine so we bought him this one from amazon and he tried it out today. First day using it and he created this little bag (he had very little help from mom). We are so so proud of Alex and he achieves in life considering it took the doctors 9 minutes to revive alex we never thought we would see the day he could complete such tasks. As a mom who absolutely loves crafting this makes my heart happy 😊 we have also got a knitting machine as Alex wants to learn to make Baby hats for the Neonatal unit in Cumh Neo Natal because they looked after him so well nearly 16 years ago

Alex had a new training buddy today at the The Train Station Gym with Dez isn't Ziggy just the cutest & hes the best boy 🐾💙

This day 7 years in St Louis children's hospital we handed Alex over for his 2nd surgery. He had his Hamstrings lenghtened by Peadiatric Orthopedic Consultant Dr Matthew Dobbs. Just like the regular warrior he is he sailed through it 🙏💙
