I don’t know about you, but I’ve been spending way too much time scrolling apps and not enough time actually living my life. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So here’s the deal, I deleted all the social media apps off my phone for October. Because honestly? The doom-scroll wasn’t bringing me joy, it was just stealing time I could be spending on things I actually love.

This month you’ll find me:
✨ Cooking up cozy recipes
✨ Tackling homemaking + farm projects I’ve been putting off
✨ Getting crafty (yes, kid chaos included)
✨ Designing new jewelry I’m excited to share
✨ Living MY life instead of watching everyone else live theirs online

If you’re ready to add more simple, meaningful moments to your fall, I’ve got you. 💛 Every Friday I’ll be sending out Notes for a Meaningful Life, a little letter from me with encouragement, recipes, DIY projects, and updates from my workbench.

👉 Hop on the list here: https://horsefeathersgifts.myflodesk.com/xn0xqhmqum

And as a bonus, I’ll send you our Fall Bucket List so you can start making memories right away. 🍂

One year without my Granny. 💔 I miss our daily chats on my drive to work the most. Those little conversations that always seemed to start my day off right.

To keep her spirit alive in my home, I’ve started weaving little pieces of her into my everyday life:

✨ Reading my Bible (almost) every morning, just like she did to start her day.
✨ Daily walks like we used to do this together often.

✨ Family game nights with Chinese checkers were our favorite.

✨ Serving at church. I now teach preschoolers about Jesus on Sundays.

✨ Filling my house with things she’d love, like my butterfly living room.

✨ Never leaving the house looking like I just rolled out of bed. Granny always had “regular clothes” on, but if you even mentioned going somewhere, she’d change into her “town clothes” (which honestly looked almost the same to me 😂) and swipe on her lipstick before heading out to the Dollar General.

✨ And when I travel, I still buy the little souvenir I would’ve brought back for her, because I can’t imagine not bringing Granny home something special.

Carrying on these little rituals makes me feel close to her still. 💛

I’d love to know, what’s something you’ve carried on from a loved one who’s gone?

Welcome back to another round of Unnecessary Opinions 🙃

No one asked for these, but I need to get them off my chest anyway. Let’s begin.

🌼 Makeup ads featuring literal infants.
Stop showing me an 18-year-old with a perfect, poreless, unbothered face. She’s just vibin’ on her parents’ insurance with not a single wrinkle, responsibility, or rent payment in sight. Meanwhile, I’m out here fighting life’s daily battles and she’s trying to sell me concealer she doesn’t even need. That ad’s not selling me on anything except rage.

🌼 People who scream sneeze.
Mine aren’t exactly dainty, but good lord why does it sound like you’re being exorcised? We didn’t need the whole restaurant to come to a halt while you blasted your sinuses into next week.

🌼 Spray tan booths and their “just hold your breath” lie.
Every single time, I try to be chill but instead, I panic and breathe in like it’s the last air on earth. Then I walk out feeling like I inhaled half the solution. At this point, I probably have bronzer in my lungs.

🌼 Cars with no tinted windows.
I did not sign up to ride around town like a golden rotisserie chicken on full display. Every red light turns into an awkward episode of “Who’s Staring at Who?” I’m just trying to vibe in peace, not make unintentional eye contact with Chad in the lifted truck next to me.

🌼 People who aggressively tear into chip bags.
Why are we opening snacks like we’re in a wrestling match? Calm down, it’s just chips. Now we’ve got broken crumbs and flying shrapnel while you act shocked it burst. Sir, this is a road trip, not a cage fight.

Which one hits hardest? Or got your own unnecessary opinion to add to the list? Drop it below so we can all feel just a little more validated today 😂👇

You can stay mad… or you can take this as your official invitation to join me in my bed with a cat, an Unsolved Mysteries marathon, and a side of snacks. 🐾🛏️

P.S. Did you know Crime Junkies breaks down most of those episodes? I’ll binge the podcast on my walks and then wait for the TV rerun like it’s a double feature from the 80s.

And honestly? I grew up watching this show right alongside Matlock and In the Heat of the Night with my Papaw, total core memory. Not cartoons, not Disney, but the slightly inappropriate daytime stuff like Judge Judy or Jerry Springer that nine-year-old me had no business watching. 😂

Now I want to know, what’s the one TV show (not a cartoon!) that instantly takes you back to your childhood? Drop it below, because I know y’all have some good ones. 👀👇🏼

Listen, if you’ve been sitting in autopilot mode just getting through the day, checking boxes, waiting for something magical to just happen consider this your sign to snap out of it. 🙃

You weren’t made to live on repeat. You were made to actually like your life. To chase the ideas tugging at you. To do the thing that makes you excited to get out of bed.

And no, it doesn’t have to be some huge “quit your job and move to Bali” dream. Maybe it’s picking back up a hobby you loved, booking the dang trip, or finally giving yourself permission to imagine something different.

Safe is fine. But safe doesn’t light you up. And I want to see you lit up again. 💛

So here’s your nudge (and your kick in the butt): it’s time to dream again. 😘

That’s why I put together a free guide with everything I use to run my handmade jewelry business, from stretch cord and metal stamps to the apps that power my Shopify store.

Every time I head to the farm, I drive right past my granny’s old house.
One little turn in the road and I’m instantly eight years old again at her kitchen table.

It’s bean and bacon soup (always in the pantry because she knew it was my favorite), endless rounds of Chinese checkers, and soap operas so slow you could skip a year and still know exactly who’s mad at who.

And without fail, she never hung up the phone without saying, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”

Here’s the thing: when someone you love is gone, it’s never the “big stuff” you remember first. It’s the tiny, everyday moments the way they made you feel loved, the little traditions they kept just for you that end up meaning the most.

So make time for those little memories with your people now. Keep their favorite snack on hand. Play the game they love. Tell them you love them every single time. One day, that’s the stuff they’ll carry with them. 💛

What’s one small thing that instantly reminds you of a parent or grandparent?

Unhinged Opinions You Didn’t Ask For: Tech Edition

Let’s begin:

🌼 You don’t offer Apple Pay or ShopPay.
If I have to get up from wherever I’m curled up to go find my purse, dig through it, and manually enter my card info like it’s 2004…
I will not be making that purchase.
Add PayPal. Add ShopPay. Add something. Your checkout flow should not feel like a scavenger hunt.

🌼 CAPTCHA click-fests.
First of all, yes, I can tell what a bicycle wheel looks like. No, I don’t need to prove it to access your dumb page.
Why am I solving a visual escape room after I already gave you my info?
Click the fire hydrants. Click the crosswalks. Now click the therapy button because I’m done.

🌼 Password requirements that belong in a CIA vault.
Let me be reckless with my own login choices.
If I want my password to be “ihatepasswords1,” that’s between me and the security gods.
Requiring 17 characters, a hieroglyph, and a hair sample just to make an account? I’m out.

🌼 Automations that make me do 15 things to get one freebie.
I clicked your link. I gave you my email. Why are you sending me in a loop of “click here,” “confirm again,” “click again to receive”?
No. Two steps max. After that, I’m ghosting.
Your Canva PDF is not worth a treasure map.

🌼 Lazy email marketing with zero segmentation.
I opt in for one cute swimsuit and the next morning you’re pitching me a roundup of toddler rain boots and maternity bras.
Respectfully… WHAT.
Use your segments. Know who you’re talking to. Otherwise, straight to spam you go.

Your turn:
What tech-related thing makes you rage tap the exit button?

I’ll go first. 🐹

We got Sterling a hamster when he was like… three.
Had it for a solid three days. Felt like a good parenting moment, a wholesome family pet situation.

Until Day 4.
We go to check on Hammy and the cage is EMPTY.
Mind you, this cage was on a bookshelf halfway up the wall. So naturally, we assumed it swan-dived off the shelf, crawled under something, and died.

Fast-forward 24 hours I’m working at my desk in the office (aka the scene of the crime)…
AND OUT OF NOWHERE, this little furball comes sprinting across the floor like it just clocked back in from its shift in the underworld.

I scoop it up, panic-hug it, we’re all relieved, yay, it’s alive! We feed it, water it, celebrate the resurrection.
Next morning? Dead as a doornail. The resurrection did not stick. RIP little dude.

It was a 72-hour emotional rollercoaster and I will never buy another hamster again. Ever.

Your turn, what’s your traumatic hamster story?
Drop it in the comments and let’s bond over these pint-sized harbingers of chaos. 😂👇
