This week brought heartbreaking news with the passing of the one‑of‑a‑kind sweetheart, Dolly Parton. As I’ve been preparing for our upcoming Leonard, MI Barn & Basement Estate Sale on September 11–13, I’ve come across several décor and gardening pieces that instantly reminded me of her gentle spirit.🦋

Many of these items are brand new, still in their boxes, never used — and they carry that same soft, joyful energy Dolly shared with the world.

In a 2021 interview with W Magazine, Dolly said something that has always stayed with me:
“Butterflies don’t sting, they don’t bite, and they are so beautiful. And I just kind of related to them with my own personality. I don’t want to hurt anybody… and I still don’t.”

That quote feels especially tender now. And as I hold these butterfly‑themed treasures in my hands, I can’t help but think of her — a true angel who touched millions with kindness, humor, and heart. 🦋

How often does an employer write you a thank‑you note after a shift?
For most people, the answer is never — but I believe it should be different.

Running Gingerly Away Estate Sales, LLC means aligning every part of my business with intention. My team shows up for our clients with compassion, patience, and dedication, and I want them to feel how deeply that matters. So each evening, before they work, I write a personal message just for them.

When I hand it to them at the end of their shift, I see the impact — the gratitude, the connection, the reminder that their work is meaningful. It’s one small gesture that reflects a much bigger truth: they are essential to the heart of Gingerly Away!

At Gingerly Away Estate Sales, LLC, giving back isn’t just something we do — it’s part of who we are. Supporting our community, especially our youth and educators, is one of the most meaningful ways we can make a difference.

Today, a local teacher reached out while preparing her classroom for a brand‑new school year. She shared her hope of creating a space where her students feel excited, comfortable, and ready to learn — a place filled with resources, supplies, and little touches that make learning feel special. She put together an Amazon Wish List to help bring that vision to life.

Her message reminded us why community matters. Teaching is so much more than textbooks — it’s heart, creativity, and the belief that every child deserves the best environment to grow.

It was our absolute pleasure to select a neon sign encouraging kindness and reading, along with a stack of Brag Cards to help celebrate her students’ wins all year long. 💛📚

At Gingerly Away Estate Sales, LLC, honoring client stories is at the heart of everything we do. We don’t just move items we carry forward the memories attached to them. Here’s how we make that happen:

• Listening deeply: Every client has a unique journey. We take time to hear the stories behind their belongings, whether it’s a childhood book, a family heirloom, or a piece of furniture that’s been in the home for decades.
• Sharing provenance: When possible, we pass along the history of an item to its next owner. That way, buyers understand they’re not just purchasing an object they’re becoming part of its ongoing story.
• Creating connections: We highlight these stories in our communications, listings, and conversations. This helps buyers feel the emotional value of what they’re receiving, and clients feel reassured that their treasures are appreciated.

📅 September 11, 12 & 13 — just three weeks away!

The team and I have been putting in some serious hours, and the progress has been incredible. We’ve been unboxing, sorting, and staging hundreds of wonderful treasures — many brand new in their original boxes — all waiting to be rehomed, repurposed, and given new life.

This sale is truly special. We’ve bonded with our client in a way that reminds us why we do this work. She’s an absolute gem of a human being — today she even prepared a beautiful lunch spread for the entire team with treats. Her kindness and warmth mean the world to us. As she said, “When good people meet good people, we just continue to help one another.” That spirit is exactly what makes this sale shine.

To my incredible team — Bob, Larry, Judy, and Kelly — thank you for every long hour, every heavy lift, and every bit of heart you’ve poured into this project. Everything is taking shape beautifully, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’re creating together.
