Underneath all the strategy, hiring is really about belonging. ๐ŸŒ…

Everybody wants a place where they're useful, valued, and part of something. Owners want it too โ€” that's half of why they build.

When I help a business make a great hire, I'm really helping two people find their place: the team that needed them, and the person who needed the chance.

That's the work. Everything else is just method. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ‘‰ Where do you feel like you truly belong?

The most common thing I hear from owners isn't about candidates. It's exhaustion. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

"I just don't have time to do this right." Said with a tired half-laugh that isn't really a laugh.

You can hear a whole business in that sentence โ€” the growth, the pressure, the person holding it all together.

You're not behind. You're carrying a lot. Sometimes the bravest move is letting one thing off your plate. ๐Ÿ’™

What would you take off your plate first, if you could? If it's recruiting, we should talk. https://calendly.com/erica-everydayhr/30min

After hundreds of conversations with owners, here's what I've learned: almost nobody is failing at hiring because they're careless. ๐Ÿ’ก

They're failing because they're doing four jobs at once, and hiring keeps getting done at 11pm between everything else.

It's not a discipline problem. It's a capacity problem. There are only so many hours, and hiring quietly loses the fight for them every week.

That's not a weakness to fix. It's a reality to plan around. Everyday HR - Hiring Reimagined can help with that. I'd love to talk about how. Let's schedule a free consultation: https://calendly.com/erica-everydayhr/30min

People ask why I started Everyday HR. The honest answer: I got tired of watching good businesses lose to bad hiring. ๐Ÿ’™

Owners who did everything right โ€” great product, real heart, loyal customers โ€” held back by roles they couldn't fill and hires that didn't stick. It wasn't fair, and it wasn't necessary.

I knew there was a better way, built for small and mid-sized companies instead of borrowed from giant ones.

So I built it. Right here on the Space Coast, for the businesses I care about. ๐ŸŒด

๐Ÿ‘‰ What made you start yours? I never get tired of that story.

The interview is a two-way audition. Candidates forget they hold power too. โš–๏ธ

You're not just hoping to be chosen. You're deciding whether these are people you'd trust with the next few years of your life.

Ask the bold question. Notice how they treat the receptionist, the pauses, the way they talk about the last person who left.

The best working relationships start with both sides choosing on purpose.

Job seekers โ€” what's the boldest question you've ever asked in an interview? ๐Ÿ‘‡

The person who really wants it will usually beat the person who's simply good. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

In most situations, skills can be taught. Hunger can't. I'll take coachable and driven over polished and indifferent almost every time.

This doesn't mean settle. It means widen your lens โ€” the eager, slightly-less-obvious candidate is often the one who becomes indispensable.

Some of the best hires just wanted to prove they belonged. Giving them that chance, creates loyalty and long term employees.

Hungry or polished โ€” where do you land? ๐Ÿ‘‡

That "gap" on the rรฉsumรฉ you're side-eyeing? It might be the best part. ๐ŸŒŸ

Caregiving. A failed venture that taught more than any job. A health season survived. A deliberate pause to figure out what mattered.

We've trained ourselves to read gaps as risk. Often they're where a person got wiser, tougher, and clearer about what they want.

Ask about the gap with curiosity instead of suspicion. You'll be surprised who walks through the door.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Anyone here have a "gap" that turned out to be a turning point? I'd love to hear it.

You can't out-hire a leaky bucket. ๐Ÿชฃ

I've watched businesses pour energy into recruiting while good people slipped out the back door โ€” then wonder why they're always hiring.

If keeping people isn't working, hiring more just feeds the leak faster.

Sometimes the best hiring strategy is a retention conversation you've been avoiding.

Hiring or keeping โ€” which one is actually your bottleneck right now? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Most people who "quietly quit" asked for something first. Quietly. ๐Ÿ”ˆ

A little more clarity. A little more respect. A path that went somewhere. When the asks go unheard long enough, people don't storm out โ€” they just stop reaching.

Disengagement is rarely a character flaw. It's usually a series of small, ignored requests.

The good news: the same smallness works in reverse. Small, consistent attention brings people back. ๐Ÿ’™

The most underrated interview skill? Listening. ๐Ÿ‘‚

Most interviewers spend the whole time talking, selling, or waiting for their turn. The great ones get quiet and let a person reveal themselves.

You learn more in the pause after a question than in any rehearsed answer.

You already know what YOU'D say. The whole point is to find out what THEY'LL say.

Talkers or listeners โ€” who's interviewed you better? Share your favorite story in the comments. ๐Ÿ‘‡
