At Hart To Press we offer two different options for printing designs for shirts. DTF (Direct To Film) & Sublimation.
It’s good to know the difference between the two when making a choice.

Sublimation and DTF (Direct to Film) are two distinct methods for printing designs onto t-shirts, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Sublimation works best on light-colored polyester fabrics, where the ink is infused into the fibers, creating a soft, durable print. DTF, on the other hand, can be used on a wider variety of fabrics, including cotton and darker materials, but the print sits on top of the fabric, potentially feeling thicker and more prone to cracking or peeling over time.

After purchasing a sublimated shirt, you should learn how to maintain its vibrant colors. Below are the washing instructions that will help you keep your shirts as long as possible.

Washing Instructions
Pre-Treat Stains: Before washing, check for any stains. Use a mild detergent mixed with cold water to gently blot the stained area. Avoid scrubbing, as this can damage the sublimation print.

Turn Inside Out: Always turn your sublimation shirts inside out before washing. This helps protect the printed design from friction and abrasion during the wash cycle.

Use Cold Water: Set your washing machine to a cold water cycle. Hot water can open the pores of the polyester fabric, allowing the sublimation ink to escape and leading to fading.

Choose Mild Detergent: Use a mild, phosphate-free detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and any harsh chemicals, as these can damage the fabric and prints.

Separate Washing: Wash sublimation shirts separately from other garments to prevent color bleeding. This is especially important if washing with other printed fabrics.

Gentle Cycle: If using a washing machine, select a gentle cycle to minimize agitation. If possible, hand washing is recommended for delicate designs.
