With the coming change in weather next week, be on the lookout for subterranean termites swarmers. Nature's trigger to kick off the swarm season is usually a sudden warm spell after a lot of moisture. i.e. melting snow/rain and warm days.

RATS! We are seeing more and more of this in residential neighborhoods. Feeding the birds is a nice hobby but it is also a powerful magnet for unwanted visitors.

Found this deceased creature in a basement in Hockessin, DE today. This is not a child's toy or a fake insect 😬.

Had to look it up because it is truly a "Now For Something Completely Different" experience. As usual, dollar bill for scale...

The insect appears to be a Western Hercules beetle (Dynastes grantii) or an Eastern Hercules beetle (Dynastes tityus).

Completely harmless they say. 😆

Termite damage on first floor and in the basement of a customer's home. The subterranean termites entered the home under the front step and from the basement floor where the stair stringers were embedded in the basement floor.

At a customer's house today. Tame little squirrel has her own chair in the tree. She even posed with it for me like she was showing it off.
