Train Hard. Recharge Harder.

What if your next training didn’t just build skills—but helped you step away and reset as well?

The Crisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT) Train-the-Trainer prepares participants to deliver the 40-hour CRIT curriculum within their own agencies, with a strong emphasis on scenario-based instruction and program development.

This is a small, hands-on course—limited to 12 participants—to support meaningful interaction and practical application.

Hosted at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon, the location provides immediate access to hiking, outdoor space, and walkable dining options.

A different kind of training experience—by design.

Earlier this month, thanks to NAMI-Alabama, we had the privilege of delivering two full-day De-Escalation Training sessions in Hoover, Alabama, bringing together law enforcement officers and mental health crisis responders from multiple agencies for a shared learning experience focused on safety, communication, and effective response in high-stress situations.
This 8-hour, instructor-led training emphasized four core safety principles—prioritizing officer safety, individual safety, and community safety—while providing practical, easy-to-apply tools for navigating emotionally charged encounters. Participants engaged in real-world scenario analysis, interactive discussions, and hands-on exercises designed to strengthen tactical communication, identify hooks and triggers, and support rational decision-making under pressure.
The collaboration and engagement throughout both sessions reinforced the importance of cross-disciplinary training and a team-based approach to de-escalation and force options. We are grateful to the agencies and professionals who showed up ready to learn, reflect, and apply these skills in service of their communities.

“Excellent training and useful for the job. I’d like to see it offered to all law enforcement officers.” ~Sergeant Derek Boone, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office~“The scenario-based trainings were amazing. I enjoyed getting to process & reflect on the scenarios afterwards in a safe & educational way.” ~Zach Andrews, Mental Health Liason, Shelby County

Thank you to all who participated and helped make these sessions a success. We look forward to continuing this work and partnering with agencies nationwide to support safer, more effective responses to crisis situations.

Through interactive learning, real-world scenarios, and guided facilitation practice, participants gain the confidence and tools to train others in de-escalation, communication, and connection to community resources.
We’re proud to share that Farmington Hills PD is now the second law enforcement agency in Michigan to complete our advanced instructor training—helping to expand the reach of compassionate, safety-focused crisis response training nationwide.
