Most people see the ice cream.
They don’t see the surgeries, the hospital stays, the staffing problems, the pricing decisions, the systems breaking, the rising costs, or the days where everything hits at once.
On this episode of Business on the Run, I sat down with Dylan Lirette, owner of Space City Cow, and this conversation went way deeper than ice cream.
We talked about:
✅ Starting a business before everything was “perfect”
✅ Building a brand from scratch
✅ Why systems matter when people are unpredictable
✅ Pricing your product when quality actually costs more
✅ Mentoring young employees
✅ Battling serious health setbacks while still keeping the business alive
✅ Why purpose has to be bigger than money
One of my favorite parts of the conversation was Dylan’s view of entrepreneurship.
It’s not clean. It’s not easy. And it is absolutely not for people who just “want to make a bunch of money.”
Business will test your health, your discipline, your leadership, your patience, and your faith.
But when you build something that impacts your community, gives people a place to belong, and creates an experience people remember — that’s when business becomes more than business.
This was a great conversation with a great local business owner.
