For a long time, I thought leading meant carrying the entire weight of the business on my own shoulders.

I was the first one in and the last one to leave. I was answering every fire, sitting in every meeting, and quietly exhausting myself trying to keep the cage from breaking. I thought that was what strength looked like.

But there’s a massive difference between running a business and actually leading one.

The turning point happened when I sat in the room at LIVE2Lead. Looking around, I saw hundreds of other driven leaders, but something clicked for me during the sessions: True leadership isn't about restriction or control; it’s about expansion. High-performance teams don't thrive on critique alone; they thrive on targeted validation. If you want to increase engagement instantly, implement the 3:1 Feedback Rule:

For every course correction or critique you deliver, ensure you catch your leaders doing three things exceptionally well—and call it out with extreme specificity.

Don't just say "Great job on the presentation." Say: "The way you structured the data on slide 4 directly answered the board's concerns before they could ask. That is an elite executive presence."

Specific praise reinforces elite habits. Consistency builds trust.
