At this point, Eastern Oregon Towing & Recovery would like to announce the opening of our new PRODUCE DEPARTMENT. 😂🍎🍐🧅

Last night was apparently fruit night.

One truck brought us onions.

Another brought apples AND pears.

And somehow the crew ended up spending the night sorting out a roadside grocery situation that absolutely nobody had on their bingo card.

Seriously… what is it with produce trucks lately?! 😂

We’ve recovered enough apples this year that we’re starting to think they see an EOTR truck and just throw themselves on the ground.

The pears joined in this time.

The onions?

Well, naturally they showed up too — somebody had to cry about the whole situation. 🧅😂

Thankfully, the crew knows what to do when a bad night turns into a big cleanup: get everybody safe, bring in the equipment, clean up the mess and get things moving again.

EOTR finally got a chance to put the new Dolly to work tonight. ❤️

And around here, we love a good Dolly.

Thankfully, the most important part of this recovery is that no one was injured. Once that was established, the crew can focus on figuring out how to get this semi trailer safely back to the shop yard.

Turns out, “just tow it back” gets a little more complicated when you first need to pick up the trailer and put wheels underneath it.

Out came the rotator.

Rig it.
Lift it.
And we got our first opportunity to slide our new dolly underneath and put her to work.

Given the loss of the one and only Dolly Parton last week, the timing wasn’t lost on us.

One more tough job made a little easier by a Dolly. ❤️

We have a feeling EOTR’s new Dolly is going to become a pretty important member of the EOTR crew — although she has some awfully big boots to fill.

Rest easy, Dolly. Around here, we will always love you. 🎶❤️

He failed to mention the dozer was bringing its front porch. 😂

Seriously… look at that blade.

At some point this quits being heavy haul and becomes moving a small commercial building.

Loaded up, chained down, permits handled, and ready to roll.

The dozer looks comfortable.

The blade has its own area code.

And he is probably standing there thinking:

“I could’ve had an office job.” 😂

But where’s the fun in that?

Another beautiful Sunday drive through Eastern Oregon.

Some people take the convertible.

Some take the motorcycle.

Mason takes a Peterbilt wrecker and brings home a stray. 😂

Today’s destination: Spray, Oregon, where another truck had apparently decided it had seen enough scenery and would be completing the rest of its trip as a passenger.

So Big Red headed out, found the patient, hooked up, and started the trip home.

At this point we’re beginning to think Mason is running some kind of rescue shelter for wayward semis.

“Where’d you find this one?”

Spray.

“Can we keep him?”

NO, MASON. WE HAVE ENOUGH TRUCKS. 😂

Another one collected and headed home.

Well… somebody took “make hay while the sun shines” a little too literally. 😂

Sleep in?
Relax?

Nah.

We’re hauling hay.

And judging by that trailer, we’re not talking about a couple bales for the backyard goats. 😂

Blue sky, red Peterbilt, and enough hay to keep somebody chewing for a while.

BREAKING NEWS: THE SKY IS BLUE. 😂

We repeat: Eastern Oregon still has a sky.

After a summer of wildfire smoke, we’d almost forgotten what the thing looked like. And apparently Mason wasn’t about to waste it sitting around admiring the view.

Today’s adventure: Wasco to Pendleton to retrieve another truck that decided Friday sounded like an excellent day to quit working.

Because of course it did.

Nothing says “Have a great weekend, Mason!” quite like:

📞 RING RING

“Hey buddy… what are you doing?”

So Big Red is hooked up, the sky is blue, and another one is headed to Pendleton.

Nothing says “quick stop at Arrowhead” quite like unloading your entire load in the parking lot. 😂

This pickup was hauling a trailer full of lumber when it decided Arrowhead was as far as it was willing to participate.

Truck: broken down.
Lumber: still needs to get there.
Plan A: officially over.

So EOTR got the call.

Out came the skid steer, off came the lumber, and what started as a roadside breakdown turned into a full-blown parking lot lumber transfer operation.

Because apparently we don’t just tow the broken stuff anymore.

We finish its chores too. 😂

Load transferred. Delivery back in business.

Somewhere between Baker City and Portland, Mason is out here personally making sure somebody’s “Your package is 3 stops away” eventually becomes:

DELIVERED.

Forget Prime Air.
Forget the little blue vans.

Apparently when Amazon really needs to get things moving across Oregon, you call a guy with an old-school Kenworth and tell him to head west. 😎

So if that package you’ve been obsessively tracking finally lands on your porch…

Well… at least we know the runaway truck ramp works. 😳😂

While most of Eastern Oregon was settling in for the night, Mason was headed up Cabbage Hill because a loaded semi had made very good use of one of the few places on the mountain you REALLY hope you never need.

The runaway ramp did exactly what it was built to do.

It stopped the truck.

Like… REALLY stopped the truck.

Which is where Mason and Big Red came in.

Getting several tons of truck and trailer back out of a bed designed specifically to swallow several tons of truck and trailer isn’t exactly a “throw a chain on it and give ’er hell” situation.

But eventually, the truck was back on solid ground and everybody was safe.

And that last part is what matters.

As for Mason…

After the equipment recoveries, heavy hauls, broken semis and now a midnight date with the Cabbage Hill runaway ramp…

we are officially accepting applications for someone willing to kidnap him and take him on vacation. 😂

Never a day off when one of your best customers is having a bad one.

Mason puts in the time, and “no” doesn’t seem to be in his vocabulary when there’s a rescue or recovery to be made.

Days off, nights, weekends… apparently those are just details. 😂

Another truck needed help, and the WORKAHOLIC was back at it.

We give him a hard time, but we’re damn lucky to have him.
