PEORIA 50501 & UNITED ALLIES DECLARE INDEPENDENCE FROM WANNABE KING

At last Saturday's All of U.S. 250 March & Rally many attendees took the opportunity to sign an 8' x 6' replica of the Declaration of Independence. Today we commemorate our nation's birth by rededicating ourselves to Truth, Equality, & Freedom, to resisting the authoritarian regime and its "long train of abuses and usurpations", and promoting democracy for ALL of us - WE THE PEOPLE!

MARCH and RALLY for ALL of U.S. on SATURDAY in PEORIA!

The authoritarian regime in Washington DC is trying to whitewash our past so they can control our future. The wannabe king wants to keep the promise of America only for wealthy, white men like him by disappearing Black and brown Americans, rolling back our civil rights and freedom to vote, and taking away birthright citizenship. The rights of others in our nation – women, the LGBTQ community, people with disabilities, immigrants, Native Americans, and multiple other communities – are also under assault by this autocratic kleptocracy.

But we can turn the tide.

It’s time for all who call this place home to take a stand against the corrupt, anti-democratic regime’s attacks on our country’s past, present, and future. While we boycott the regime’s un-American, whitewashed 250th “circus”, we will come together to embrace all of America, all of our history, and commit to the work yet to be done to make this country a place where liberty and equality are for all.

Join Peoria 50501 and our many allies in the Greater Peoria area for the “All of U.S. 250 March & Rally”, set for Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 2:30pm to 4:00pm, at Peoria Stadium, 315 E War Memorial Dr, Peoria, IL 61614. We’ll have signs and banners galore along the march route, reflecting the spirit of the event. Bring your own signs, your voices, and your indomitable commitment to our democracy. Take the opportunity to sign a large banner of the Declaration of Independence.

This will be the biggest national day of action in the lead up to this historic anniversary for our country and will be a unifying call for all who want America to reckon with and repair our history rather than erase it, celebrate how far we’ve come, make America a place where freedom and equality are for all.

UPDATE ON PEORIA 50501 ALL OF U.S. 250 MARCH & RALLY!

For this Saturday’s event, we’ve decided to add a March, to honor those in past movements in our nation’s 250 years who effectively used marches as a show of protest and call for change.

The March will start around 2:50 after our crowd gathers, for those who are able. It'll be short, back and forth along War Memorial Drive, between the main entrance road to the Peoria Stadium park and New York Ave to the east (see attached map.) We'll have "yard signs" with messages relevant to the event along both sides of the route for folks to read and contemplate. We realize some attendees aren't able to march – they can stick nearby along the route to watch. We’ll hold a brief rally after the March. But for most of the event, attendees can do as they have done for No Kings - gather along War Memorial Drive, hold signs, join chants, engage with passing drivers, listen to inspiring music from the sound stage, and enjoy the community spirit.

Near the main park entrance, along the fence by the sound stage, we'll also have a large 8' x 6' banner of the Declaration of Independence with space for attendees to sign on the bottom third of the banner (see attached image). Declare your Independence from the wannabe king!

A major component of our event theme is getting out the vote in the fall elections. Representatives from the League of Women Voters will be seated at the Peoria 50501 information booth to provide guidance and assistance to those wanting to check their registration status or register to vote.

On Saturday June 27, 2:30pm to 4:00pm, let’s have a massive gathering of the Greater Peoria democracy-loving community to:
-- celebrate our nation’s birth
-- recognize the steps we've taken toward a more perfect union
-- reckon with the steps taken by the authoritarian regime to destroy our forward progress
-- stand strong for liberty for ALL of US, demand equality over erasure, and resolve to take charge of the next 250 years of our nation starting NOW.
