🚨 RGV Lawn Alert: Take-All Root Rot Is Starting to Show Up 🚨

We're beginning to see signs of Take-All Root Rot (TARR) in St. Augustine lawns across the Rio Grande Valley. This fungal disease attacks the root system long before the lawn shows major stress above ground.

🌱 Early Warning Signs
✔️ Yellowing that starts at the base of the grass blade
✔️ Irregular brown patches that don't form perfect circles
✔️ Grass that pulls up easily from the soil
✔️ Problems appearing first in shaded or poorly drained areas

⚠️ What This Disease Does
Take-All Root Rot attacks and weakens the roots underground. By the time the lawn starts turning yellow or brown, the root system may already be severely damaged.

❌ What NOT To Do
• Avoid applying high-nitrogen fertilizer
• Don't increase irrigation thinking the lawn is dry
• Don't automatically assume it's chinch bug damage

✅ What CAN Help
• Reduce irrigation frequency and avoid overwatering
• Improve drainage where possible
• Minimize thatch and debris buildup
• Identify and treat issues early before summer rains increase disease pressure
