Life gets hard. The Bible never said it wouldn’t. In fact it says the opposite. John 16:33 says β€œ... In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

So, what’s strange isn’t the fact that we will encounter difficulty; what’s strange is that EVEN WHILE encountering difficulty we can have peace.

Stay encouraged, family. Against all odds, stay encouraged. If you’re feeling like this pandemic is getting harder the longer it goes on, remember that you are not alone. β€œGod is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

Notice that it doesn’t specify. That’s because ALL trouble is under God’s jurisdiction.

The year has gotten off to a hectic start for many of us. We have likely all thought of many ways to improve ourselves in 2022; and let’s be honest, all these goals/resolutions are stressful. For some reason, we believe that when the clock ticks to 12:00 am on January 1st, we’re supposed to be a new and improved version of ourselves.

That is, of course, unrealistic, and we enter the new year with the same habits, struggles, and weaknesses we had on December 31st.

My advice? Take things one step at a time (I know, cheesy). Try breaking your big goals into mini-goals and tackle them one by one. If your goal is to become emotionally intelligentβ€”start by reading one self-help book, take a personality test, start journaling, practice meditation, look for therapists in your area, and begin some of the heavy work in therapy.

It takes small steps to achieve big goals. So be patient, extend yourself grace and tackle those goals one step at a time.

Hey, you. It’s okay if you haven’t made much progress towards your 2022 goals yet. It is not too late; you haven’t messed up. There are 11 months left in the year; that’s 481801 minutes. You have time. Do what you can each day, and try again the next. So keep trying, and don’t give up.

After having a baby we often hear about postpartum care, postpartum depression, but have you heard about postpartum rage? NO?! πŸ˜±β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹

Well, let’s talk about it for a minute. Postpartum rage looks like an iceberg. Here are a few things you might see: outbursts of anger, easily triggered, resentful, irritable, short fuse, etc.

But here is what you don’t see:
Unmet needs
Postpartum depression
Postpartum anxiety
Lack of support
Burnout
Struggling to adjust to motherhood
Relationship challenges
Feeling alone, etc.

It is important for you to be aware of those feelings so you can know what is going on and how to deal with it. All of the above are valid emotions and it is ok for you to feel this way. But it is possible to get to a better place. You can first start by speaking up! At Grace Guided, we are here to help you and pray for and with you.

I came across this quotation the other day.

β€œDon’t use rest or self care as a reward for being productive. If you need a break, you need a break. It’s not something that you should make yourself earn at the cost of your mental health.”-

To be honest, it made me think. I used to feel guilty to be tired as a stay-at-home mom. Then one day my husband was home with our kids and told me at the end of the day β€œI don’t know how you can do that every single day”.

Yes, motherhood is one of the hardest and most thankless jobs, but every morning we get up and do it all over again. We never quit.

So mama, if you are tired, own it, and go get some rest. Even if nothing has been crossed from your to do list yet!

After getting married, we quickly felt the financial pressures of life. Forget date night and desires, we were just making enough to cover our expenses!

What helped us through this was that we were on the same page. We understood that our situation was only temporary.

We didn't argue about money because we realized our long-term financial goals and steps to achieve them outweighed our present position. Just knowing that we had shared goals made us more motivated to work together in each step of our journey.

So sis/bro, get on the same page as your spouse, tackle the problem and not each other. Afterall, you’re on the same team! {Sarah J}

As unpredictable as 2020 and even 2021 have been, we really felt our need to experience grace. Oftentimes, it’s easy to find ourselves giving grace to other people. We feel their pain, we place ourselves in their shoes making every effort to understand and comfort. It’s a necessary work and we do it as mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends, confidants, besties, and even strangers.

It’s easy to forget yourself in a process like that. Extending grace to ourselves often feels inappropriate, misplaced and even undeserved. But there is grace for you.

God invites you to come aside and rest awhileβ€”to surround yourself in His faith, hope, love and (our favorite) His Sufficient Grace.

We renew His invitation to you. Learn to rest with us. Learn to accept the gifts that God has given you. To promote holistic growth along this journey we will champion our need seek God always, build unshakable faith and believe in transformative grace. That is what it means to be GraceGuided.

We’re so excited to begin our Facebook journey with you. It’s going to be a wild one!
