Today is World Down Syndrome Day. What’s your assumption?

Every year on March 21st, World Down Syndrome Day is observed to create awareness about Down syndrome. It is a condition in which a child is born with an extra 21st chromosome.

People with Down Syndrome are intellectually differently-abled. They are one of the most underemployed segments of the workforce. Many are qualified, ready, and willing to work. All they need is an equal opportunity.

Job coaches are one form of reasonable accommodation that allows employees with intellectual disabilitiesto be able to work.

The passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was a major milestone toward providing everyone in the United States with a fair and just opportunity for health and wellbeing. It was the first legislation of its kind, outlawing discrimination against people living with physical or mental disabilities. Its 33rd anniversary is an opportunity for people, policymakers, and philanthropy to recommit to strongly supporting disability rights.

By centering and amplifying voices from the disability community, learning together, and holding one another accountable, we can build a more inclusive future for all that is rooted in justice.

If you work in Philanthropy please pledge your support. Because we all know that Laws alone won’t change our current reality, please follow and like our page her and on Instagram where more “Ways to Make Impact” will be posted soon.
