-- NOT FOR FUNDRAISERS ONLY --

Do you love asking people for money? Skip this post and enjoy your day.

BUT -- do you love your nonprofit’s mission but hate that you have to keep landing charitable gifts to keep it going?

Or does that describe someone you know who is super dedicated to fabulous work that’s changing lives and healing souls in their community?

Join me tomorrow at 1PM for the “I HATE FUNDRAISING” Workshop, where I will share critical tasks you can do year-round that will set you up for success with a MINIMUM of fundraising. I’ve been at this for 40 years and can assure you that MOST of successful fundraising is a result of actions that are very different from asking people for money.

I HATE FUNDRAISING is part of tomorrow’s Philadelphia Community Works virtual conference. Check out the schedule on this link – registration is just $50 (!!) AND since you’re reading this on my page, you can use the discount code “friend of speaker.” There are sessions on social action, community organizing, DEI, managing teams, and a couple of gems to enhance your communications process too.

At this price, the full day is an incredible bargain, and you’ll still get your money’s worth if you drop in to just a couple of sessions.

Lastly, I am offering you a personal MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. If you participate in my session and you don’t raise at least $50 more this year because of what you learned, call me in January and I will refund your registration price. You can’t lose!

Register now and I can’t wait to see your face tomorrow!

My sixth of the year is shining on Mary Van Allen, a longtime friend and neighbor, and a fellow runner (though she's a star and I'm a plodder). Long ago I ran the Boston Marathon by her side for a few miles -- before I made the wise decision to drop back, and watched her disappear into the faster crowd ahead.

But – I came here to talk about her work life.

Mary is one of the great minds working in the intersection of and at Clarivate Analytics. Since she helps me by boosting my business posts, I want to return the favor by lifting her up to folks who are looking for an expert in information management who is especially skilled at working with all kinds of professionals and personalities. Check out her LI profile and share if you know someone seeking her expertise!

Have you lost touch with long-ago colleagues and wonder if it would be weird if you showed up in their social media? Guess what – go ahead and hit those Likes because people love a blast from the past! My fifth this year goes to someone who has made a rich and varied career at a single organization and has taken the time to engage with me and boost my business long after our jobs took us in different directions.

Linda Lostracco and I worked side by side in for five years at Albert Einstein Healthcare Network (we made it through together!). Kudos to Linda for closing in on 50 loyal years (!!) at Einstein. Building her skills every year with a deepening commitment to , Linda hit her stride in 2004 when she became Safety Coordinator. This critical role is the hub for everything from hazmat handling and emergency processes to employee education and compliance with the many agencies that regulate health care job sites. And – nobody notices unless something goes wrong. People like Linda keep their employers out of the news for the wrong reason! If you need public affirmation of your work, this is not the career for you.

A word about the place that has retained this remarkable professional for all this time:

Albert Einstein Healthcare Network provides care on three campuses and operates more than a dozen centers throughout the greater area. Einstein Medical Center is the largest independent teaching hospital in the area, meaning that a robust group of residents trained in the newest medical advances arrives every year to learn and keep staff fresh in return.

Want to make a philanthropic impact? Consider supporting a healthcare system that remains dedicated to serving communities in need. Spring fundraising events include a Basket Raffle and the Small Miracles Golf Tournament. Learn more here:

Einstein Healthcare Network is a non-profit organization serving Philadelphia and surrounding counties. Einstein relies on the support of its donors and staff.

Second of 2022 goes to Tony R. Fisher - Managing Broker, Anthony Patrick Real Estate, a dear friend since the day we met 18 years ago. He has been relentlessly positive and supportive as I’ve developed my practice. I’m choosing this c-c-cold weather week, when many of us are dreaming about sunny beach days, to lift up Tony’s business, Anthony Patrick Real Estate. Call Tony about listing or buying in Delaware’s charming beach towns and historic villages.

After many years in Sussex County, Tony has developed and honed valuable knowledge of the market and will share with you the strategies that will create the greatest benefit for you, whether you are thinking about listing, relocating, retiring, or acquiring an income property. He is connected to a robust network of AirBnB properties so if you want to get a firsthand experience for any neighborhood, make Tony your first call!

Tony also has a great eye for composing images (see if you can find the one with me pretending to be a Realtor in his office) so follow him on IG

If you aren't familiar with the stay tuned, and remember that when it Becomes A Thing, you heard it from me!

To close out 2021 and my yearlong social media project, here’s a new offering in the heart of . My 52nd and final spotlight is shining on Yoga Reverie, which will kick off 2022 by opening at their new location on Easton Road next to O'Neill's Food Market.

On a personal note, this gift of a within walking distance from home is a treasure. My own has carried me through these challenging times of starting my own business, navigating the pandemic, and caring for my sweet parents who are well into their 90s. Practice gives me a way to continually re-center, find my balance for the day, find quiet, listen, and strengthen my connection to what's important in my life.

Back to boosting the Yoga Reverie Studio, which I came here to do: the renovated space is bright, clean and attractive – I walk by (with the dog) often and can see daily progress as it all comes together for the grand opening. They just hung some blackout curtains, so you can be confident that you won’t be on display for or distracted by passers-by during class.

Dedicated to making in-person practice safe under current health guidelines, owner Andrea Leombruni is offering a variety of class types to welcome students at all levels of experience. Make room on your calendar to try a class in January! BYO mat and props, and I hope to see you there soon.

Time for the penultimate shout-out in my business-boosting social media project for 2021!

My 51st spotlight is shining on the Keswick Tavern, the perfect place to meet your friends, watch the game, and catch up after this year. Home for the holidays? Don’t cook and clean – get together at the KT!

Some history: longtime Glensiders like me will remember that there was an earlier incarnation in the ‘60s and ‘70s, a basic tappy that opened at 7AM and offered pickled eggs and peanuts with your morning boilermaker. The high-visibility storefront at Keswick and Easton, the main cross streets, became a terrific little food market in the ‘80s, went dark, and rose again as a new Keswick Tavern in 1994, a real restaurant with a menu that has been drawing a robust clientele ever since. It’s an ideal spot for dinner before a Keswick Theatre show or drinks after. They have those cool windows that roll up so in good weather, you can dine (almost) outdoors while you’re indoors!

Here’s a special spotlight on a new business that solves problems for holiday gift buyers:

Do you ever get extra busy with Life In General and suddenly realize it’s December 10th and you’re behind the eight ball for Christmas gifts?

Are you worried about porch pirates in your neighborhood?

Maybe you’re super at gift BUYING but not so much at gift WRAPPING?

Or – you’ve totally got it together, but there is at least one person in your household who always guesses their gift ahead of time by accidentally/on purpose seeing the package?

My 50th spotlight is on a new Glenside business that has solutions for all those challenges: https://www.sleighforgifts.com/glenside on Jenkintown Road near Easton explains their services perfectly on their website and social media pages. Check them out here at Sleigh and on IG .
