Intercede Insights | Educational Series #4

Waiting for a crisis is one of the biggest mistakes families make.

Many people believe home care is only needed after a fall, a hospitalization, or when a loved one can no longer live alone.

In reality, the best time to introduce support is before a crisis occurs.

Early planning can help:

Maintain independence longer
Establish routines before they become necessary
Reduce the risk of falls and avoidable hospitalizations
Ease the stress on family caregivers
Give everyone time to adjust comfortably

The goal isn’t to take away someone’s independence,it’s to help them preserve it.

At Intercede Home Healthcare, we believe the right support at the right time can make all the difference for individuals and the families who love them.

💡 Intercede Tip: The best care plans begin before they’re urgently needed.

Intercede Insights | Educational Series #3

Many people use the terms Home Care and Home Healthcare interchangeably, but they are not the same.

Understanding the difference can help families choose the right support at the right time.

🏡 Home Care (Non-Medical)
Home care focuses on helping individuals remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home. Services often include:
• Personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming)
• Meal preparation
• Light housekeeping
• Medication reminders
• Companionship
• Mobility assistance
• Respite care for family caregivers

🩺 Home Healthcare (Medical)
Home healthcare is ordered by a physician and provided by licensed medical professionals. It may include:
• Skilled nursing
• Physical, occupational, or speech therapy
• Wound care
• Injections or IV therapy
• Medical monitoring and treatment

The important thing to remember is that these services often work together, not against each other.

A person may receive home healthcare for a short period after surgery or a hospitalization, while home care provides the ongoing day-to-day support that helps them continue living safely at home.

At Intercede Home Healthcare, we provide non-medical home care because we believe compassionate support can make all the difference in helping individuals maintain their independence and giving families peace of mind.

💜 Compassionate Care.
🛡️ Trusted Support.
🏡 Peace of Mind at Home.

What questions have you always had about home care? We’d love to answer them in a future Intercede Insights post.

Most families don’t start planning for care until they’re in the middle of a crisis.

Suddenly, they’re balancing doctor’s appointments, work responsibilities, medication schedules, safety concerns, and the emotional weight of wanting to do what’s best for a loved one.

The truth is, support exists before things become overwhelming.

At Intercede Home Healthcare, we believe families shouldn’t have to navigate aging alone. Sometimes, having someone intercede on your behalf can make all the difference.

Compassionate care.
Trusted support.
Peace of mind at home.

At Intercede Home Healthcare, we believe that a dementia diagnosis does not define a person.

Individuals living with dementia are still mothers, fathers, grandparents, spouses, friends, and neighbors. They still deserve dignity, respect, compassion, and meaningful connections.

Simple acts such as helping someone get dressed, styling their hair, sharing a conversation, looking through old photos, or simply being present can help preserve a person’s sense of identity and self-worth.

Dementia may change memory, but it does not change the need to feel valued, loved, and included.

💜 Dementia awareness begins with understanding, patience, and compassion.
