To be clear, I’m not saying that it’s not cool to be loud or it’s not cool to be curious or it’s not cool to be bouncing, my problem with these posts and I see them a lot, it’s just fake science. It’s just not real and that’s not OK. Kids come in all kinds and there’s not one kind that is a genius or feel safe or it’s regulated or is the best kind. So my thing is just watch out for fake science on the socials. And if it sounds too neatly wrapped up in a beautiful little package, it’s probably not true. Or there is the tiniest tiniest morsel of truth and then they just manipulated into whatever they want so they get their clicks.

It’s not our jobs to micromanage our kids or be the cruise directors of our homes. Being bored is a problem to be solved. Let your kids be bored.

So two of my social media pet peeves are creators who don’t tell you what you should do after they tell you what not to do and also creators who are just showing the pendulum has swung way too far into absolute insanity.

I don’t even care if kids are grumpy about doing things around the house. Honestly, I’m grumpy every time I have to do the dishes or laundry. But it is our responsibility to teach kids that they are part of a team and something bigger. It’s also important for us to teach them life skills things they need when they go out in the world, which is cooking, cleaning, problem solving, waiting, and yes, doing non-preferred tasks.
