We are living in a time where Scripture is more accessible than ever before, quoted and shared constantly, yet obedience to God is treated as optional. Some where along the way, we've replace "He only is.." with "He is one of many". Some where along the way, we went from "I will not be moved!" to "I will move to keep the peace". This did not happen overnight. It happened, because pragmatism slowly replaced obedience and our truth replaced His truth.
Pragmatism says, "The end justifies the means"
The Word says "Obedience is better than sacrifice" (1 Samuel 15:22)
Pragmatism asks, “What works for me right now?”
The Word asks, “What does God require of me?”
Pragmatism says "If it works then it must be right."
The Word says "There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death." (Prov. 14:12)
Pragmatism says "Live your truth. What is true for you may not be true for me."
Jesus says "I am the way, the truth, and the life.”(John 14:6)
When comfort and people pleasing becomes the filter for truth, obedience and reverence to God becomes negotiable. There is a great deception happening where we applaud familiarity with Scriptures over obeying Scriptures. In other words, we applaud hearing the truth while still choosing what feels practical instead of what is righteous.
Hear me clearly, we have all sinned and fallen short. However, we can no longer use pragmatism–a deceptive weapon of the enemy as justification for walking in disobedience. Seek the Lord while He may found. He is faithful and just to forgive us of ALL confessed sins and purify us from ALL unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
We have a responsibility as believers to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. What good is our light if it's hidden and our salt if it loses it's taste?! (Matthew 5:13-16)
Come out from among them and get back on your stand. (Psalm 1:1-3)
