Instead of always looking for new opportunities, I want to focus on what we're already doing. What am I an expert at? What can I do at a high-quality level that could really yield results, especially if it were funded? What partners would I need to make this happen? Once I can see the bigger picture of what my organization could achieve, then I can find the right programming opportunities.

When it comes to grant strategy, it all starts before you even submit the application. Cash flow is so important, especially when grants require matching funds. Think about upfront expenses, payroll, contractors, or reimbursement needs.

Everyone asks me where to find grants, but 'where' is only the beginning. The better question is: What problem does your program solve?

If you're aiming for six-figure, multi-year grant funding, you need clarity on:

✔️ The population you serve
✔️ The extensive problem you're addressing
✔️ The solution you're building

When I search for grants, 'prevention' is a key keyword. Think violence prevention, crime prevention, homelessness prevention, or recidivism prevention—any costly community problems.

I use GrantWatch.com (link in bio) as one of my paid grant search tools. But remember, a grant database is only useful when you know what you're truly searching for. Save this for your next grant search!
