The film has swam its way into my dreams & daily thoughts. It’s a wonderful story of ways I believe humans can really combat the complex issues we face today: conflict, climate change, political divide. In a simple story of an octopus there are much deeper lessons hidden. What does it really mean to be connected to all things? This octopus teacher shows us... 🐙

This beautiful illustration by deeply impacted me. As I’ve been examining my own mental constructs of the world in my Masters program in Consciousness, it’s forced me to unlearn & deconstruct ideas I have developed. It’s a process of sitting in discomfort & expanding perception to hold more of what’s real. To me this drawing embodies this process of seeing beauty & magic in all things, even in what we consider to be pests- like cabbage moths in our garden. If we believe life is sacred, do we really believe all life is sacred?

WHAT DO WE VALUE? As the old toxic, systems collapse & we honor the pain that was caused, we can heal & move towards a new world. What this new world looks like is as vast as our imagination. What do you imagine for the future of humanity? 🌱

This country was founded on thievery. Looting of land & people. Until we can practice deep emotional & spiritual reconciliation practices, dismantling unjust systems, and rebuilding together, we will never be free.

This book changed my life when I was 15- thank you to my phenomenal history teacher Ms. Garcia! When the history we learn is written from only the white perspective, that had a deeply self serving & violent agenda, it creates an untrue & unjust narrative that then plays out in our current lives. If you want to understand where we are now, understand where we came from. And then speak the truth every chance you get. We can’t change our history, but we can learn from it & do better as a human family serving one another.

While at Standing Rock, I would hear elders say “Don’t say a prayer, be a prayer.” To be a prayer, one must listen with a humble heart & act in service to others. A good practice for a world that has been blind to it’s privilege -privilege that was created by oppressing others. This prayer will be uncomfortable for many. And it should be. For if we say we want justice for all, we must be the prayer we say we want. Become the prayer, it is an action word.
