But, with the popularity of Jewish and Indian Matchmaking on Netflix, it raises the question: Is the timeless tradition of matchmaking the future of dating?
After nearly 2 years of virtual dating and minimal social engagement, as we continue to navigate the challenges associated with online dating, weathering dating app disasters, and persevering through daily life struggles to re-enter a changed world, is there a new sense of optimism on the horizon for Jewish singles?
With limited Jewish only dating options, a resurgence in matchmaking - made popular by the Netflix Jewish Matchmaking series, and the development of Mujual, a sophisticated new AI Jewish singles dating app, there's a palpable anticipation in the air.
Many experts say the lessons learned, the growth experienced, and the bonds forged online have prepared us for an exciting new chapter. Maybe now, we are poised to create beautiful stories of connection in a world that's learning to reconnect once again.
Armed with newfound wisdom and a deeper understanding of what truly matters, we are ready to embrace chance encounters, meaningful conversations, and the genuine connections that await us. Even though many singles, myself included, may not fully understand enough about why it’s important to keep the laws of shomer negiah, the Jewish dating practice of limiting physical contact until after marriage, there are many lessons to be learned from its wisdom. For non-secular Jews, marital s*x is considered ideal, and premarital s*x is traditionally not approved of.

Statistically, there are far more relationships that went south because the partners couldn’t connect as people. Needless to say, two people who deeply care for and are committed to each other, that find each other attractive and engaging, almost always find ways to express that physically.

Usually people who are dating for the second time around take their sweet time dating the same person. Many find that if the dating relationship continues beyond five or six dates without intimacy, one may begin to lose interest. Thousands of singles grapple with this dilemma, especially second-time-around singles who typically need to be extra-cautious before committing to marriage again.

If you're a shomer negiah and feel that you’ve lost interest after meeting your date five times, what makes you think that you won’t lose interest if you marry again? If you are purely visual and you base compatibility on what your eyes see, what happens if there’s nothing else between you two except what your eyes appreciated?

There are a lot of societal ideas and even myths about feelings of passion and desire - Many people think hot s*x is the best when you are young and attractive and it gets harder to keep it vibrant as we age. While physical changes may be inevitable - does that necessarily mean that s*x after 50 will be unsatisfactory? "It's less about how much s*x we have after 50 - and more about the experience,” says s*x therapist and co-host of the Intimate Judaism podcast, Talli Rosenbaum.

“Everyone’s dating story is unique and it’s important to embrace your wisdom, and seek connections that resonate with your values,” says Intimate Judaism podcast co-host Rabbi Scott Kahn. So, how do we balance our expectations and desires while healing from divorce, dating disasters and trying to establish a new emotionally and s*xually fulfilling relationship, while adhering to the notion of waiting for marriage?

If you’re someone who values Jewish teachings on intimacy or if you’re secular and dating after divorce, tune in to our conversation about dating and s*x after 50, tonight on Jewish Singles Radio. Maybe you don’t subscribe to the Jewish dating practice of limiting physical contact until after marriage, but, maybe you should? It’s a powerful relationship tool for any couple that wants

to get to know each other deeply and feel more clear-headed when thinking about whether a relationship makes sense.

What’s scarier than dating? The potential nightmare scenarios are endless. The guy you can’t get rid of, the girl who’s binge drinking, the obsessed ex-lover who shows up . . . you get the picture.
Dating disasters can leave you feeling defeated and questioning your ability to find love. Nonetheless — we love hearing about dates gone wrong... except when it happens to you, of course! Maybe it's because we can relate to those stories ourselves, or because we feel validated sharing our date-from-hell on social media when others respond with reactions like OMG or with a hugging face emoji.
Let’s be honest, the statistical chances of meeting a bad person online are huge. Harassment, unsolicited pictures, money scams, physical and s*xual abuse, and in some cases, even murder can happen as a direct result of online dating. Believe it or not, has 73.9 million views on TickTock.
There’s nothing wrong with lightening the weight of your dating mishaps or venting about your burdened heart - - but don’t get sucked into the toxic and negative dating advice on social media. “I feel people’s pain when they are not able to find what they are looking for… singles nowadays ‘appear’ to have more choice than ever before, but have never found it harder to meet a partner, “ says internationally accredited Relationship Expert and Certified Dating Coach Debbie Rivers.
“If things didn't work out for someone else, their story doesn't have to be your story…rest assured, you have not missed your chance to find love.” says Rivers.
For all the horror stories out there, there are success stories too! If you’re struggling with dating and feeling like you’re broken, messed up or even unlovable, tune in to our conversation with Debbie Rivers, tonight on Jewish SIngles Radio.

It doesn’t matter if you’re divorced, separated, widowed or you just haven’t dated in a long time, finding the courage to date again when you’re over 50 can feel impossible. So where do you start? If you’ve tried online dating, you can chat with someone for weeks only to find out you have no chemistry when you meet them in person.

Why not give speed dating a try? The idea is simple: an equal number of single men and women in the same age range get together for a couple of hours.
Participants rotate to meet each other over a series of short "dates" typically lasting from three to eight minutes.
It’s not uncommon for a person to have 15 “dates” in one speed-dating session.
You get to chat with several potential partners in one night, which can lead to some pretty interesting conversations.

Whether in person or online, speed dating is a great way to meet in a fun and laid back environment. According to the New York Times, participants in speed dating receive an average of 2-3 out of 10 matches.

The speed-dating concept has been in existence since 1999, and originated with Los Angeles rabbi, Yaacov Deyo, who introduced the idea in his Jewish community, to help Jewish singles meet each other. It's still a popular and effective way to meet new people and potentially find love. To the surprise of many, seniors have embraced this partner-seeking method more than any other age group, and speed-dating events for seniors have become popular across the country.

"Speed dating can help you to and meet multiple prospective partners and quickly determine if there's chemistry," says
Ian Mark, founder of DateNight AI, a virtual speed dating platform.

Like any non-traditional form of dating, the speed dating format has its pros and cons. One thing 's for sure, says Mark, "It reduces uncertainty and awkwardness." Tune in to Jewish Singles Radio tonight for speed dating pros, cons, and tips for success.

Of course, it’s true that dating, in general, can absolutely suck. Many singles are tired of disappointment and negative experiences when looking for love. When you’ve been dating for a while and nothing seems to pan out, hitting the “reset button” is easier said than done. In fact, bad dating experiences can push you to opt out of dating altogether because it’s too painful, or because you believe something is wrong with you.

If you have low self-esteem, maybe you're preoccupied with wanting your date to like you more than you care if they are a good fit for you. When you feel as though you’re “not good enough,” you mistakenly believe that any attention is better than no attention, and may even find yourself settling for disrespectful or abusive treatment. If you’re looking for someone else to make you feel more confident, less lonely, and validate you, it may not be the best time to get into a new relationship. When the results of your dating efforts are discouraging, it’s hard to stay positive, but it’s important to keep going and not to let dating disappointments kill your self-confidence. It’s not worth it! “Don’t look for your dignity and self esteem outside of yourself,” says International Jewish educator Adrienne Gold Davis. For Jewish women, Gold says learning how to discover and uncover a sense of self that isn’t contingent upon the approval of others is one of our biggest challenges. “It’s difficult to maintain our self esteem when most of what we’re looking at (on social media) does not exist.”

If you’re struggling with dating because of poor self esteem, listen to the inspiring Adrienne Gold Davis tonight on Jewish Singles Radio.

Are you feeling physically, emotionally, or mentally drained after spending time with someone you’ve been dating? Maybe you’ve been walking on eggshells and afraid to express your true feelings to your partner. Or, perhaps your significant other tries to control your behavior, who you spend time with, and what you do. These could all be signs that your relationship is taking a toll on you.

In an unhealthy relationship, many of us tend to accept inconsistency and hold on to false hope for months and even years when our partner seems nice and interested, but turns out to be avoidant. How can we miss those waving red flags along the way? ”Relationships can be full of fear and insecurity,” says certified love and relationship coach Lisa Shield. “I try to teach my clients how to find and create naked, honest, and open communication.”

Each of our past relationships teaches us something and although everyone’s experience is different, there is no doubt that getting your heart broken leaves you vulnerable and alone. Toxic relationships tend to convince us that we can no longer do the things we love, but heartbreak is what forces us to discover ourselves again. According to Shield, after a toxic relationship ends and you allow yourself time to grieve, you learn to focus on yourself and what you want. You realize that you deserve more, learn to stay true to who you are, and rebuild your self esteem. When you stop putting your desires on hold and start to validate your self worth, you learn to love yourself in ways that no one else can love you, says Shield.

Lisa Shield helps guide you to finding peace and self love after a toxic relationship tonight on Jewish Singles Radio LIVE at 6:30PM on WWDB 860AM & WPEN 97.5 HD2

Dating can be a source of anxiety for many people, particularly those who have had negative experiences in the past. Whether it's fear of rejection, insecurity about your appearance, or a lack of social skills, many singles struggle with confidence, apprehension, and depression issues when it comes to dating and new relationships. Just as negative thoughts can make a body sick, promoting positive and nurturing thoughts through hypnosis can help to develop a more positive and empowering mindset and identify and overcome limiting beliefs that may be holding you back from dating success.

Tonight on Jewish Singles Radio, Certified Hypnotherapist Avrahm Shaffer explains the powerful tool of Hypnotherapy and how it can help manage negative thoughts and behaviors and build confidence and self-esteem, making it easier to gain mastery over your own mind and feel more comfortable in social situations. Are you curious or skeptical about hypnosis? Tune in to Jewish Singles Radio tonight at 6:30PM on WWDB Talk Radio 860AM and 97.5FM HD2
