When a piano comes into the shop, I always work on the pedals- which is an often neglected part of the piano. Adjusting the trap work is an integral part of the whole process, and shining the pedals at the buffing wheel is always a final step.

Seriously, to my colleagues out there- with thousands of Kawai pianos that I've tuned, the older ones always have this dirt inside, which I like to call the "Kawai crud". There must be something in the materials used to make the piano that causes this over time. Any thoughts?
