Beginning in the 1880s, thousands of Jewish immigrant families created agricultural communities in fields from the Ottoman Empire to Canada, and Argentina to Kansas. Those who tilled southern New Jersey soil did so in rural farmland dotted with orchards and canneries, but close to cities that bought their eggs, poultry, milk – and tomato soup. On Mother's Day, I'll set-off with 13 other women on a self-supported bike tour, beginning in Williamsburg, VA. I'm really psyched to participate in this "bucket-list" challenge!
I hope you'll join me in adding meaning to this adventure by making a contribution to the American Refugee Committee, a nonsectarian nonprofit organization that offers humanitarian assistance and training to refugees fleeing 11 countries.
This organization offers well-managed programs and services to families whose journeys are not a vacation; they can't rely on their local bike shop or Amazon to help them travel safely.
