California Wildfires still raging - We need EMPATHY, LOVE, NO BLAME
This '60 Minutes' episode is the best report I have seen. Its great reporting, educational, authentic, non political and touching -
When you have not been through a tragedy like this, a so called "Act of God" or force majeure, and felt absolutely helpless, its hard to have empathy.
As I watched the news, I teared-up. It brought up so much pain. I have been through 3 direct hits from hurricanes Francis, Ivan and Wilma in S FL.
As a horseman, I was asked by the Sheriff who had her hands full evacuating older adults, to help them rescue a young girl and her horse lost on over 1100 acres. If you want to find a horse, you need a horse so me and my horse found them and got them to shelter but I was late evacuating and boarding up my home. In a panic, I rushed home with no time to spare and found that my neighbors boarded up my house for me! So thankful.
I had to ride-out Francis for 16.5 hours with a woman on my couch who could not get to her son's house in time and had a heart condition. I felt helpless, scared and was in shock after the hurricane and saw the devastation. 93 degrees, 90 % humidity and no power for 8 days!
But - We came together as a village, a community and shared our food and water with each other and helped each other clean up the ruins. The first responders, clinicians and all the utility service personnel were heroes who worked round the clock. We all applauded them as they came into our neighborhood.
Please have empathy for these people and help if you can. Good Karma and sincere gratitude will be your reward.
