Another Scotty Philip Days comes to a close ….
As I sit down to write this thank you I know it does not begin to cover or express the deep gratitude for the hours and heart poured into the weekend. However, it’s the best way I can express it today.
Doreen, WHAT A ROCK STAR! The countless hours, phone calls, and energy she pours into this weekend is simply AMAZING! Our community is so blessed to have a Community Coordinator that cares as much a Doreen. Every detail is finalized and nothing is left undone. Personally ….. I am grateful to get to spend so many hours, lunch meetings, and time with just a simply great friend and the best part …… I can text her at 9:30 pm and tell her to meet me at the flag pole and wear all black or I can get a text from her that says I have a samurai
Sword and costume and neither of us think a thing of it. 🤣🤣
Kent Bucholz, he volunteers and serves on our board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce. Thank you doesn’t cut it …. This guy SHOWED UP. Then showed up again and again. 🤪😂 The set up, tear down, and everything in between …. the plan A, the plan B, and the “we will figure it out later” …. was all handled with a smile! Kent was a MVP of the weekend and I am truly appreciative of everything he helped with!!
Andrea Aaberg, Matt Reedy, and Jared Simons also volunteer and serve on the Chamber Board of Directors and we could not pull the celebration off without them stepping up, pitching in, and supporting our community!! Scotty Philip Days simply does not happen without these people willing to give their time and talents.
Thank you to all the volunteers. I know that is so general but I don’t want to leave anyone out. Volunteering on the Chamber or ANY OTHER VOLUNTEER POSITION requires a serving heart and willingness to put your own family and/or business on the back burner at times. So many people in this community give up work hours, family time, evenings, weekends, equipment, supplies, money, and sometimes a little bit of sanity 😂 because they believe this community is worth showing up for. And that is what makes OUR COMMUNITY so great!!!
I know I speak for all of us when I say, seeing Main Street full of people… kids laughing and playing, families together, old friends visiting, classmates coming home, businesses supporting one another, volunteers working side by side, and generations of people celebrating this little town we all love — it makes every single hour worth it.
I wasn’t born and raised in Philip but I am sure proud to call Philip HOME.
It’s the community where we raise our children. Where we build our businesses and livelihoods. Where we take care of our neighbors. Where some were born and raised, where some of us chose to put down roots, where people come back home to, and where many of us hope to grow old.
Thank you to every sponsor, Chamber member, business, volunteer, organization, city employee, participant, visitor, and community member who helped make Scotty Philip Days 2026 happen. Whether you donated money, provided equipment, worked an event, picked up garbage, moved a barricade, served food, brought your kids downtown, entered the parade, or simply showed up and enjoyed the weekend …. you were part of it.
That is a wrap on Scotty Philip Days 2026 — Red, White & Rural.
And now … we rest only for a minute …..
Because in 2027, Philip celebrates 120 years.
And you better believe we are going to celebrate. 🇺🇸❤️
