Julie and I just got back from shooting photo and video for an incentive trip the Bahamas. This is our 5th year shooting for Edmentum. They're an education tech company and a great group to work with. Not your typical corporate event.
We had enough free time to enjoy Nassau, but the highlight of the trip was their give-back activity. Most companies take their people on a trip, enjoy themselves, and go home. Not this group! They choose an area in need and they contribute, not only financially, but they put in a day of building, cleaning, and getting dirty! The primary purpose is to help the local kids; what a great mission!
We worked with Lend A Hand Bahamas to improve their community center and a culinary arts center as well. We built herb gardens, flower beds, a basketball court, painted wall murals, and a bunch of other things. I was there to photograph and film everything. I created a highlight video of the entire trip; below is the give-back portion. I hope more companies go the extra mile like this!
When Julie and I had free time we went on a food tour, a boat tour for snorkeling and that included a stop at Pig Beach. A few centuries ago, pirates left some pigs behind and they thrived. Now they're an attraction, except I kept thinking about that scene in Hannibal (IYKYK.)
Another beautiful spot was Ardastra Gardens & Wildlife Conservation Centre. It's a small zoo, mostly for exotic birds. We saw macaws, lorikeets, flamingos, and a peacock.
One of the cutest activities was Flamingo Yoga! The resort had your usual morning yoga BUT with flamingos walking around. It was hilarious. They would occasionally bump in to people and were looking around like they're better than everybody.
Can't wait til next year in Turks and Caicos!!
