The price on a fiverr gig is not the price you pay. There's a 5.5% buyer fee at checkout, plus a flat $3.50 on any order under $200. and each separate payment carries its own fee, so an extra or a tip gets charged again.

The small order fee is the part worth knowing. on a $200 order it doesn't apply at all. on a $30 order it's 11.7% on top of the 5.5%, taking the effective fee past 17%. So the small test order, the one you'd place to try someone out, is proportionally the most expensive thing you can buy there.
None of that makes fiverr a bad platform. if you can write your requirement in one paragraph and a stranger could deliver it correctly without asking you anything, buy the gig.
A 5.5% buyer fee, a small-order surcharge and a 20% seller cut. What that means for you, and when Fiverr is still right.
