Breeder Spotlight: JAM Targhees - Jessie Taylor, Arlington, WI

JAM Targhees was founded in 2019 by myself, Jessie Taylor, and my cousins, Abby and Maggie Stalbaum. Now that the girls have aged out of junior show age, I have taken over ownership of the flock. I am located in Arlington, WI and have 32 head of registered Targhee ewes and rams. I love the versatility and durability of the breed and their ability to adapt and thrive in different environments. They have proven to do well in a multi breed flock, mixing with the breeds that my Dad, Sister and Brothers raise. I have always had a passion for all aspects of the sheep industry - Showing and promoting, production, meat and fiber. My favorite thing about the Targhees is I get to do a little of all of it with 1 breed!

Breeder Spotlight: Selensky Sheep - Leah & Abigail Selensky

The Selensky girls are excited to bring their first home raised registered Targhee back to the National sale!

We had some nice lambs out of the starter flock ewes and opted to retain a few ewe lambs to build their flock but thought the consigned ram lamb is a good example of what they are trying to build. “Max” is out of a fantastic Montana Sheep Company ewe and a great McRae Ram. Max is NSIP eligible but hasn't been registered yet. We are excited to show him off at the national show- hope to see you there!

Breeder Spotlight: Clay and Mary Dietz

Hello from Clay and Mary Dietz in Powell, Wyoming. We have been raising Targhee sheep for 22 years. It’s just been the last couple of years that we have entered sheep in Nationals. This year’s lineup consists of two yearling ewes and five March born ewe lambs. We enjoy raising the dual purpose Targhee breed and are looking forward to meeting everyone at Nationals. Breeder Spotlight: Clover Meadows LLC

Clover Meadows LLC from the beautiful Ruby Valley of Montana is consigning 4 sheep to the National Show and Sale on July 17-18 in Huron SD. 1 NSIP yearling ram, 1 NSIP yearling ewe, 1 NSIP March ram lamb, and 1 NSIP March ewe lamb. Our grandchildren, Jace and Addison are also bringing sheep to the Show and Sale. This is our 12th National Targhee show. We raise purebred NSIP rams and ewes for sale at numerous sales and private treaty. Our focus is on well-balanced sheep- structurally correct with heavy fine fleeces, good maternal qualities and longevity. Our sheep are not show sheep. They will be in their working clothes! They are raised to succeed on the range but do well in smaller flock environments also. We are excited to be part of this 75th celebration of the Association and the 100th year of the excellent Targhee Breed. We hope to see you there! Our website is: clovermeadowsmt.org.
