Trapped my first nuisance skunk last night/ this morning! Just a tiny little fella. But sure cleaned up well! The glass jar has the essence sacks in it. And the jar with just the yellow liquid is pure quill (skunk essence) that I extracted from the glands! And I managed all of it without a “spraying” incident! Still a little smelly I spose, but I’m getting pretty used to the smells of the trapping world!

Question! So this is my first fleshing knife I’ve got. Is it a good one for basic all around fleshing? Also it says it’s supposed to have a smooth or dull side. That’s bs. lol it has 2 razor sharp edges. Can a person take a file and round off one of the edges so I can have a pushing side? Because as of right now I cannot do any pushing, it just slices right through. And I am new to fleshing so I know holes are gonna happen and I’m going to ruin beautiful furs. But they are my practice and will just hang in my house. But I’m trying to minimize the holes. One other thing, should my blade be shave my arm hair sharp. Or does it need to be dulled down a little also? Thanks!

A little insiders look at one of my sets for beaver! There are other way to trap beaver but this is a common, tried and true method! And don’t mind the messy ass workbench! lol!
