✨ Strengthening Stormwater Infrastructure: Munhall Awarded $170,000 ✨

Congratulations to the Borough of Munhall on securing $170,000 through the Small Water and Sewer Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

This competitive grant will support the Munhall Borough Storm Sewer Improvements Project—a critical investment in public infrastructure that will enhance stormwater management, reduce flooding risks, and protect both residential neighborhoods and public roadways.

Project components include CCTV inspection of approximately 40,000 linear feet of storm lines, heavy cleaning of 20,000 linear feet, and the replacement of 12 structurally deteriorated catch basins throughout the Borough. These improvements will restore system capacity, extend the life of aging infrastructure, and reduce long-term maintenance costs.

✨ Investing in Infrastructure: West Mifflin Awarded $400,000 for Noble Drive Reconstruction ✨

Congratulations to West Mifflin Borough on securing $400,000 through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF), administered Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

This funding will support the full-depth concrete reconstruction of Noble Drive, a vital industrial corridor in the Borough that serves as the sole access point to the Pittsburgh Regional Transit West Mifflin Garage and provides critical connectivity to regional economic drivers including Core-Mark International, Holcim, Keywell Metals, Safety-Kleen, and the Skyview Volunteer Fire Department.

These improvements will ensure long-term structural durability, improve safety for high-volume truck traffic, and reduce costly maintenance—supporting not only West Mifflin’s infrastructure but also transit operations and freight movement across the region.

✨ Paving the Way: Jefferson Hills Awarded $550,000 ✨

Congratulations to the Borough of Jefferson Hills on being awarded $550,000 through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, to support the Peters Creek Road Rehabilitation Project!

This critical infrastructure investment will restore a key section of Peters Creek Road between Oak Road and Gill Hall Road—a vital connector between residential neighborhoods, State Route 51, and the Jefferson Hills interchange of the Mon-Fayette Expressway (PA Turnpike 43). The project includes milling, base repair, resurfacing, drainage improvements, and wedge curb restoration.

The corridor also intersects with the Montour Trail, one of the region’s most important non-motorized transportation routes. These improvements will enhance safety, accessibility, and connectivity for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

✨ Strengthening Local Infrastructure: Pleasant Hills Awarded $150,000 ✨

Congratulations to the Borough of Pleasant Hills, PA on being awarded $150,000 through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, to support the Saratoga Drive Storm Sewer Improvements Project.

This important investment will address long-standing stormwater management issues along Saratoga Drive, reducing runoff and mitigating flooding risks that impact nearby homes and businesses. The project will fund critical drainage infrastructure upgrades, including new stormwater inlets, piping, and roadway improvements, creating a safer and more resilient roadway while protecting private property from stormwater damage.

𝐊𝐮𝐳𝐦𝐚 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝟑𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭

HARRISBURG – Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced he helped secure more than $2.74 million in grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for 17 projects in the 39th Legislative District.

“I’m proud to champion these projects,” Kuzma said. “They address critical needs in our community. Delayed maintenance and improvements end up being more costly down the line. I’m pleased we are getting these done now.”

The Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available in the Commonwealth. Municipalities receiving MTF grants are:

• Elizabeth Borough – $252,503 to replace a pedestrian stairway connecting South Third Avenue to Center Avenue.
• Jefferson Hills Borough – $550,000 to rehabilitate a section of Peters Creek Road between Oak Road and Gill Hall Road.

The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program awards grants to assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control project. Those receiving these grants are:

• City of Monongahela – $304,310 to replace a section of the storm sewer collection system near Mounds Park.
• Finleyville Borough – $100,000 to upgrade the storm sewer infrastructure to prevent runoff flooding.
• Pleasant Hills Borough – $150,000 to construct drainage infrastructure along Saratoga Drive to allow for proper drainage of stormwater.
• West Elizabeth Sanitary Authority – $55,250 to upgrade the Ferry Street Lift Station to communicate with the authority in order to monitor operating data and receive alarms should failures occur.

Local Share Account grants come from Act 71 of 2004, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects of public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Those receiving these funds are:

• Union Township – $77,450 to demolish buildings at a decommissioned Cold War-era military site in the township.
• Union Township – $192,888 to restore the streambank at Pleasant Stream Park.
• West Elizabeth Borough – $24,750 to renovate the borough building to include new doors, windows and flooring.
• Jefferson Hills Borough – $145,000 for building renovations and parking lot expansion at the Southeast Regional EMS building.
• City of Monongahela – $100,000 to replace catch basins and stormwater pipes near Mounds Park.
• New Eagle Borough – $200,000 to replace the roof and mechanical systems at the New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department social hall.
• Forward Township – $198,100 to repair Saddler’s Hollow Road.
• Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Department – $117,000 to replace the roof and improve the exterior façade on the Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Department building.
• Elizabeth Township – $100,000 to assist with construction of a multi-purpose athletic field to include four small soccer fields, one regulation-size soccer field, two regulation-size practice baseball fields, parking and a walking trail.
• Elizabeth Township – $60,800 to purchase a skid steer for use by the public works department.
• Workingmens Mutual Beneficiary Union – $150,000 to renovate the WMBU building in Blythedale to increase the longevity of the building and allow for it to serve as an ADA-compliant warming shelter in emergencies.

The 39th Legislative District includes Elizabeth, Forward and South Park townships and Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills and West Elizabeth boroughs in Allegheny County; and Union and part of Carroll townships, Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs, and the city of Monongahela in Washington County.

✨ Laying the Groundwork: West Mifflin Awarded $425,000 ✨

Congratulations to West Mifflin Borough on being awarded $425,000 through the Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).

This important investment will support Phase I of the West Mifflin Community & Recreation Center Project, funding critical site preparation and infrastructure improvements that will lay the foundation for a future, multi-purpose community facility.

Phase I includes stormwater management improvements, utility installation, and erosion and sediment control—essential upgrades that will prepare the former West Mifflin Middle School site for future phases that will deliver indoor recreation spaces, athletic fields, walking trails, and community gathering areas.

Once complete, the Community & Recreation Center will expand access to year-round recreation, strengthen community connections, and support long-term economic revitalization in West Mifflin and the greater Mon Valley region.

Congratulations to Bishop Canevin High School on being awarded $350,000 through the Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).

This important investment will support the Gymnasium Renovation and Improvement Project, ensuring that this heavily used facility continues to serve both students and the broader community for years to come. The project will include:

🏀 Athletic Floor Replacement – Installation of a high-quality maple floor system designed for durability, safety, and long-term performance.
🪑 Bleacher Upgrades – New, modern bleachers with improved accessibility and seating capacity.
📺 Scoreboard & Video Display Enhancements – Updated scoreboard systems and a full-color LED video display to enhance the game-day and event experience.

Bishop Canevin’s gymnasium is a true community asset, hosting athletic events, fundraisers, performances, tournaments, and open community programming. These upgrades will create a safer, more functional, and more welcoming space for students, families, and community organizations alike.

The Borough of Jefferson Hills is pleased to share that we have been awarded $246,000 through the Gaming, Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF), administered by Allegheny County Economic Development in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

This funding will help launch Phase I of the Tepe Park Improvement Project. Planned upgrades include new sidewalks, improved stormwater infrastructure, defined parking, ADA signage, and more reliable access for everyone who visits. This investment marks the start of a multi-phase effort to modernize the park and expand recreational amenities such as improved athletic courts, fields, trails, and landscaping. The planned improvements for Phase I will not only create a safer and more welcoming environment for residents and visitors, but will also lay the foundation for these future phases of park upgrades.

We thank Novus Strategies, PA State Rep. Andrew Kuzma, and Senator Devlin Robinson for their continued support of local projects that strengthen our community. We’re looking forward to getting this project underway and improving Tepe Park for everyone to enjoy!
