Introducing my latest project, an AMS 39 VCF combo vending machine that I'm preparing for a new location!

The machine was delivered, but we already had our first surprise when the bottom tray fell out. Thankfully, that won't stop the project.

I'll be giving this machine a deep cleaning, upgrading the lighting, installing a new credit card reader and lock, and making sure everything is working properly before placement.

Looking forward to bringing y'all along as I get this machine ready for its new home!

Vending tip. When purchasing a used vending machine, take the time to inspect, clean, and test everything before installation. It's much easier to address issues before the machine is on location.

One thing I've learned in vending is that every machine doesn't need to be filled to capacity. Some locations move products faster than others, and stocking everything to the max can leave you sitting on inventory that isn't selling.

I stock based on demand, monitor sales, and make adjustments as needed. The goal isn't just to have a full machine. It's to have the right products in the right quantities.

Vending tip. Use your sales data to determine how much inventory each selection actually needs. This helps reduce expired products, control inventory costs, and keep your money working for you.

Swapping out the original Mountain Dew for Monster Energy at the library today. But of course, vending had other plans!

The machine started displaying "Exact Change Only," so I had to do a little troubleshooting. After dispensing and refilling the coins through the programming menu, everything was back to normal.

That's vending for you. You never know what you'll run into during a routine restock.

Vending tip. When your machine displays "Exact Change Only," check your coin mechanism and coin levels before assuming something is broken. Sometimes cycling and refilling the coins is all it takes.

I got a call that my coffee machine was dispensing drinks with little to no flavor, even though I had just serviced it a few days earlier. Once I got inside, I realized two things. Usage was higher than I expected, so some ingredients were running low, and even with regular flushing, product can still build up around the dispensers.

I removed each dispenser cup, cleaned everything thoroughly, topped off the ingredients, tested a few drinks, and we were back in business. Another lesson added to my coffee vending routine.

Vending tip. Flushing your coffee machine is important, but do not rely on flushing alone. Regularly remove and clean the dispensing components where ingredients can collect and cause inconsistent drinks.

After two years in the vending business, I’m finally starting to add energy drinks to some of my machines. First up is the White Monster. I’ve had customers ask about energy drinks before, so I’m interested to see how it performs and whether it earns a permanent spot in the lineup.

As always, we test, track the sales, and adjust from there.

Vending tip. Do not add a product just because it is popular. Test it at the right locations, track the numbers, and let your customers tell you whether it deserves the space.

Me and my son hit the community center to restock the combo machine. His official title is Moral Support Manager, but according to him, the amount of moral support he provides deserves a serious pay increase.

I’m not sure HR agrees, but I definitely enjoy having my little man along for the ride and letting him see the work that goes into building the business.

Vending tip. Bring your kids along when you can. Even if they’re just providing very expensive moral support, they’re still getting a chance to see entrepreneurship up close.

First time doing a full cleaning on my coffee vending machine, and I’m learning quickly that these machines require a completely different routine. Checking supplies, cleaning the ingredient areas, wiping everything down, and paying close attention to the mixing and dispensing areas.

I’m still learning, but every service visit helps me build a better routine. Getting the machine installed was only step one. Keeping it clean and ready for every customer is where the real work begins.

Vending tip. When adding a new type of equipment to your route, create a cleaning and maintenance routine early. Consistency makes it easier to catch buildup and potential problems before they become bigger issues.

Installing my first coffee vending machine definitely came with some lessons. Every part I originally purchased had to go back because the connections were not the sizes I expected. Fortunately, the maintenance team at the location worked with me to get the correct parts, make the proper connections, and get everything hooked up.

Definitely a learning experience, but now I know exactly what to verify before the next coffee machine installation.

Vending tip. Before purchasing fittings for a water fed vending machine, confirm the exact connection sizes on both the machine and the building’s water supply. A few minutes of verification can save you multiple trips to the hardware store.

Today Power Up Vending celebrates two years in business. We started with one machine at one location, and today we’ve grown to 16 machines across 10 locations.

It’s been an amazing journey filled with wins, challenges, lessons, and plenty of growth. Thank you to every client who trusted us, every customer who supported our machines, everyone who provided feedback that helped us improve, and everyone who prayed for us during the difficult moments.

Two years later, I’m grateful for how far we’ve come and excited about how much further we can go. Thank you for being part of the journey.

Vending tip. Never underestimate the value of starting small. One machine and one opportunity can become the foundation for something much bigger. Just keep building.
