After several years of strong post-pandemic revenue growth, many states entered 2026 facing slower revenue collections and widening budget gaps. As lawmakers search for ways to balance budgets, small businesses may find themselves at the center of policy debates involving pass-through entity taxes, corporate income taxes, sales taxes on services, industry-specific levies, and new compliance and reporting requirements. At the same time, potential reductions in federal funding could force states to reevaluate spending priorities and assume greater responsibility for funding certain benefit programs, creating additional budget pressures.

This webinar will examine the fiscal challenges states are facing, the tax and regulatory proposals gaining traction across the country, and the potential impacts on small businesses. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) voted to rescind a rule dating back to the 1960s that requires large employers to collect and share data on the race and gender of their workforce.

The move, as part of the Trump administration’s broader anti-DEI efforts, would make it harder for Black workers, as well as women and other marginalized groups, to make claims of workplace discrimination.
