Just wanted to take a minute and reflect on Retreat a few weeks ago!! As someone who has been in this industry and in a store for 17 years….it’s hard to not get burnt out. But as also someone who loves to learn, these types of retreats are just what the doctor ordered. 🥰🥰
.
I came away with so many new things that I wanted to implement, and we already started moving in that direction. We have goals of becoming a more sustainable store, creating a stronger digital footprint, developing stronger partnerships with other like-minded gown shops, vendors, and wedding professionals. All things to set us up for success!! 🏆🎉
We can’t wait to share all of the amazing changes we have coming. Thank you again to for creating such an invigorating place to learn and grow over those 2.5 days. And for inviting me to speak on stage with other amazing store owners!! If you are a store who questioned going to this type of event…think about going next year. It could change your business!!

Just a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to visit Charleston, SC with the TKWW team!! They treated their Educators to an amazing retreat. Not only were we spoiled with amazing food, experiences and swag; but we also had the chance to really get to know our fellow educators and to see what the future holds for TKWW, our industry and it’s educators.
We had an incredible time together and no surprise we are all competitive!! The scavenger hunt was some of the most fun I have had!!
I’m excited for what is to come in our industry

I was honored to be asked to speak at this years WMBA in Vegas. I always try and give presentations that are tangible, where stores can take something away to implement in their stores when they get back.
Today we talked upgrades, add ons, packages and increasing our bottom line by not giving away to many “free” items. Making sure that we are creating value for our brides with things they care about and that benefit them. But that also increase our bottom line. 💵💵
Making sure when creating packages or upgrades that we include our team. They have to see the value and it empowers them to help make positive changes towards a more profitable store.
We set a plan of action for when they get back and I hope that they can create some extra income in their stores to either pay themselves more as owners, do a staff retreat, make some upgrades to their store or pay off debt!! The options are endless. 👏🏻✅
If you were at my presentation today and are missing slides comment below with your biggest takeaway and send me a DM and I’ll get your email and pass it along!! Plus I loved that at the end we jumped into a conversation and stores were helping each other!! It was amazing!!! 💕💕

Last week I took a few of my staff on a leadership retreat. These three women I chose to bring have been a huge reason why we have been so successful, especially over the past year and a half.

It’s been difficult to find time to get away due to lack of staff (not due to lack of trying to find people) and that we’ve been busier than ever during our typical slow season (we’re seeing almost twice as many brides compared to previous years).

I wanted to put together a few days of leadership growth not only for my team but for myself. I looked at several programs and decided on Craig Groeschel’s leadership podcast. He has hundreds of episodes but I focused on finding our individual strengths, motivating and inspiring our team, strengthening communication, giving and receiving feedback, leading up and creating an empowering culture. Check it out at Craig Groeschel] life.church (it’s not a religious focused podcast, it’s leadership focused)

It was time for us to be honest with each other and ourselves. We are spending the next few months focusing on building our strengths instead of focusing on any weaknesses. Creating an empowering culture with a clear vision that the entire staff believes in and practices daily.

We have been so focused on building an incredible experience for our brides that we have lost focus on ourselves and why we did what we do.

Don’t get me wrong we also ate great food, relaxed by the pool, went wine tasting and experienced a little bit of Jacksonville in Southern Oregon. It was an amazing few days.

What are you doing for your team to help you grow as individuals and an organization? It’s a must for all of us to grow, so make sure you find the time to work on your leadership skills and those of your team.

How many bridal boutiques have a private collection? We love having a private collection in our store. The margins are incredible and we get to style our own shoots. Our private collection “Julia Leigh” (Lee) is named after my niece Julia and my middle name Leigh. Since we are a family owned business it was only fitting that we kept it in the family.
I love hearing all of the ideas and names that stores have called their Private Collections!! We usually shoot our images in a studio but since we did this amazing wallpaper wall we couldn’t resist shooting in our store. With the help of some amazing vendors we pulled together our favorite shoot yet and we can’t wait to share some images.
I would love to see more inspiration from other stores as they have cultivated their Private Collections.

When was the last time you took a good hard look at your branding? We are constantly working on our advertising and marketing efforts and making changes and adapting constantly. We have a very strong brand, but we needed to be more consistent on how we were communicating with our potential, current and past customers on all platforms.
We worked with to 1st create accountability 👍🏻on getting it done and 2nd to have a clear idea on what needed to be adjusted. Having an accountability group was key to making it a priority for us, because honestly it needed to be done and it’s been talked about but it kept being put on the back burner. I mean 2020 was all about adapting, surviving, and thriving am I right! 🙋🏼‍♀️
All of this hard work isn’t going unnoticed and we are seeing an increase in business and putting 2020 behind us and gaining our stride back in 2021. We are putting together our Branding/Marking Guide so that if ever someone needed to step in everything is in one place. 👏🏻✨
You may think you have it all on point but it’s always helpful to get an outsiders perspective. Now is the perfect time to take a hard look at all aspects of your business and make the time and effort to tackle one thing at a time!! I’m excited to share our findings as a educator speaking at virtual market in April.

I’m beyond grateful to be asked to continue as a educator for 2020!! The wedding industry isn’t for the faint at heart!! Fellow wedding industry pros know this all too well....yet we are some of the hardest working professionals out there.

To all my fellow bridal store owners...make this year your year! Strive for more, whether it’s giving yourself something a little extra, investing in your team, expanding, going on a vacation longer than a Saturday off!! I hope you all reach for the stars and conquer 2020!!
