Your religious belief will affect your decisions: how you interact with people, how you respond to circumstances, how you interact with your own emotions, and especially who you look to for hope.

Therefore, your religious belief will affect your mental health.

It is essential to remember that there is only one way to the Father and one way that leads to life, through Christ Jesus (John 14:6).

The Gospel is more than a few words read or spoken once or twice a year. It is a lifetime of learning after the Son of the Living God.

Thank you Lord for the opportunity to know you more today.

We are judged upon how we interact and respond to Christ (who He is to us & His words to us in this life).

Work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

In holiness there is peace, there is love, and we become like Christ. In reading this and 2 Peter 2, I am reminded that we live in dark days, but God is longing that we desire how to learn holiness.

It is never a one time choice and done; we overcome by the consistency of inviting God in and conquering our flesh for the purpose of doing all that God has commanded.

Additionally, the choices of holiness do always come with a cost.

There is only one way to healing, and as the wages of sin is spiritual death, there is no separating spiritual death from the physical (Romans 6:23 NLT). Eventually, the two realms collide, and the spiritual wins every time (of course God is supreme over both (Colossians 1:15)).

Thankfully, God reveals the source of healing, eternal life, and escape from this broken and evil world through Christ - it is through a godly sorrow - not a worldly one that lacks repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10 NLT).

What does true repentance mean?

Similarly, choosing to obey God with even one particular thing reveals a change of mind and heart from death to life. Now, what’s needed is discernment.

Why offer Services & Trainings from a faith-based perspective?

"The Word of God is sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).

Why am I excited about this class and group-like structured format?

It offers the opportunity for engagement and discussion coming together with education. Whether the need is an educational seminar or a group discussion, the point is that more self-reflection and self-evaluation can take place in such an environment than a 1-1 setup (though that is a necessary format in certain contexts as well).

This structure can allow for multiple concepts to exist as one: a community working toward a knowledge and understanding together, a place of healing for oneself in Christ and restoration with one another, and a place of safety where there is no judgment, the topic can fluctuate (in certain circumstances), and questions can be the forefront.

There is one thought I have this evening after a conversation with an individual who was feeling the weight of this world's brokenness in the physical and spiritual.

That is: Do not believe the lie of what your feelings and circumstances keep informing you. They can haunt you by saying it is game over, life is not worth living, there is no hope, God does not care, He is distant, and so on.

Whatever the circumstance, as believers in Christ, Colossians 1 informs us that God is absolutely sovereign over the physical and spiritual as we happen to live in the best and worst of both. Not only does it inform us that God is sovereign, but scripture and the testimony of those in relationship with God remind us that He is intimately and lovingly involved in the details of our lives (as if we were the only being to exist in this life) (Psalm 139; Matthew 10:30; Revelation 12:11).

In faith, stop agreeing with the reoccurring lies from hell and replace them with the truth that God is and will always be greater than the current circumstances and/or feelings (speaking it out loud will always be beneficial for resisting the lies and fixating on the truth). Do not let them dictate your responses or reactions. His ways and thoughts are always so much higher (and greater) than ours. His timetable is not our own.

With that, have a great day!!

Here is what I am beyond thankful for in the concept of behavioral modification from the Gospel Approach.

This is the model commonly known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

Circumstance --> Thoughts -->Emotions --> Behaviors/Action

This is the same model from the Gospel-Centered Approach:

Circumstance --> Repentance --> Thoughts --> Emotions
--> Behaviors/Action --> Repentance --> Behaviors/Action

The point is that repentance is never an act of just words, but it is an act of inviting the Holy Spirit into the process of change. Even Christ taught us that obedience should not be done in one's own strength, and He carried it out perfectly (Luke 22:42; Hebrews 5:7-9). The desire itself for strong, tight-knit relationships, healthy communication, effective leadership, peace, love, joy, etc. is a desire from the King.

Another note to be reminded - Repentance was placed in the diagram twice as our desire to change draws us to recognize our need for a Savior (more than we could ever know).

Therefore, striving for excellence to honor the Lord in response to repentance is the understanding.
