If you’ve never seen wax moth damage before…just know it's not my favorite part of this job 😅
Wax moths are opportunistic pests that usually target weak or struggling hives. Instead of attacking the bees directly, they invade the comb itself, tunneling through wax, pollen, brood, and leftover honey stores.
As the larvae spread, they leave behind thick webbing and damage that can quickly make a hive unlivable. Colonies may abandon the hive entirely and swarm off looking for a new home.
If you’ve noticed wax moths in your hives and need help figuring out the next steps, feel free to reach out. And if you find a colony that has swarmed into your home, shed, or property, we also offer humane bee removals across NWA! 🐝
