Did you know we now offer helical-driven shoring for both residential and commercial applications?

The benefits to installing shoring using helical piers versus traditional vibration or other methods are:

-No vibration near houses and other structures- always a nuisance to neighboring properties and potential for damage to neighboring properties from the vibrations.

-It is more cost-effective because we can retrieve the material for future re-use. Shoring installed using vibration often is cut off because it can’t be retrieved.

-Our powerful drive motor lets us install shoring as per engineering drawings, which is typically very difficult without vibration or other typical methods; thus leading to improperly installed shoring.

NAKON Excavating is looking for honest, hardworking, motivated individuals to join our team! We specialize in residential excavation, utilities and demolition.

Responsibilities:

-Assist with excavating, grading, demolitions.
-Perform daily checks and basic maintenance items on trucks and equipment.
-Being present at work.
-Awareness of surroundings and jobsite conditions.
-Good time management.

What we are looking for:

-Class A preferred, not required.
-Previous residential excavation experience preferred.
-Strong work ethic and be a part of the team.
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
-Must be able to do hand labor tasks.
-Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
-Reliable transportation.
-Willing and eager to learn and grow.
-Problem-solving skills.

We offer bi-weekly pay, raises and foster an environment where our employees can grow within the company.

This is a full-time position. 40-60 hours per week during the season with reduced hours during winter months.

Pay: $25-$45/HR

This lake Minnetonka project posed a few challenges:
-No yard space for storage, staging or parking.
-Right off of a really busy stretch of road with limited access.
-11’ tall basement, requiring shoring due to retain the dirt on both sides and protect neighboring properties.

We were able to complete the demolition, excavation, shoring and backfill efficiently while maintaining minimal impact to traffic, keeping the site curb appeal, and on schedule.

We removed the 1 stall garage off of this house without any damage, dug a new basement addition, and a much larger 2 stall garage for this client. Along the way, bad soils were encountered so 3-4’ of bad soils were exported and replaced with recycled concrete so that this new structure will outlast the old one.

The mini with the tilt bucket and a good operator makes an unbeatable combo when space is tight, and hitting target elevations is paramount. We are knocking these yards out this spring!

Some progress pictures of one of the Edina projects the NAKON crew knocked out.

Project highlights:
Complete tear down took 3 days; start to finish.
Almost 2000 cubic yards hauled away, 500 cubic yards hauled back in.
Shored an almost 12’ tall embankment, 11 feet away from the neighboring house.
5’ of elevation change in the front yard.
14’ tall foundation walls in the back.

And so much more.

5 years ago today…

The humble beginning of NAKON excavating, just 2 boys with their mini excavator they bought with their life savings and a dream.

We are thankful for everyone who has been an integral part of this venture, and especially thankful to God for blessing us beyond our imagination!
