Have you ever thought, “I’m only one person, how can I make a difference?”
On Friday, May 8th, Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley held its 13th annual Women Who Rule Luncheon and Awards event, and I witnessed the power of one person compounded by the force of a community.
There’s a beautiful South African philosophy, “Ubuntu.” It means humanity to others, and it speaks to our interconnectedness: a person is a person through people.
The spirit of Ubuntu was on full display on Friday.
In addition to celebrating WLF’s 25th anniversary…
🎉We honored three community trailblazers leaders, each outstanding in her field, career and dedication to making a difference in the valley.
KESQ news anchor Karen Devine received the esteemed Mary T. Roche Community Leadership Award.
DSUSD superintendent Dr. Kelly May-Vollmar received the Helene Galen Educational Excellence Award.
The recipient of the WLF Spirit of Excellence Award went to Natalia T. Gonzalez, an alumnus of the Young Women Leaders program, who completed her doctorate program and earned her Ph.D.
🎉Celebrated our beloved founder, Mary T. Roche and past presidents and awarded scholarships to 26 Young Women Leaders. 🎓
It has been such an honor and a privilege to serve as president of this incredible organization for the past two years.
Thank you to our presenting sponsor , our leadership and community sponsors, members, volunteers and donors. You are the heart of our organization.
I am so grateful and appreciative to my WLF board and advisory board. Your support, contributions, and tireless dedication made the 13th Annual Women Who Rule Awards Luncheon such an inspiring and memorable event. I am always in awe of your talents and willingness to go above and beyond.
WWR reminded me of the importance of staying the course to pursue your dreams, bring your vision to life, and to use your voice to speak up for what matters.
As one person you will make a difference, and when you find your community, together you’ll make an impact.
