Remember the chaos when businesses first tried using AI? Fast forward to 2026, and the focus has shifted. Now it's all about integrating AI into everyday operations to save time and money.

But only 14% of small businesses have fully embraced AI. The rest are stuck in the 'Deployment Gap.'

Are you leveraging AI effectively in your business? Or do you still face challenges?

Interoperability, Power, and the Future Healthcare OS

The EHR battle isn’t just Epic vs. Oracle. It’s about who controls healthcare’s data bloodstream.
• Oracle is leaning into open APIs and interoperability, connecting 100+ systems and aiming to be a Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN).
• Epic’s Care Everywhere exchanges 220M patient records monthly, but still struggles with outside integrations.

Regulators are done waiting. TEFCA and FHIR mandates are forcing open data whether vendors like it or not. Patients aren’t waiting either — they expect Amazon-style, AI-powered access to their records.

By 2035, the winner won’t be “the best EHR.” It’ll be the platform that becomes the operating system of healthcare — spanning records, supply chain, payer integration, even research.

AI as the Workflow Killer (or Savior)

By 2035, half of healthcare’s admin work might disappear — not because of policy changes, but because of AI.

Oracle is building AI straight into its EHR:
• Ambient listening that writes the note while the doctor talks.
• AI agents handling prior auths and coding.
• Semantic knowledge graphs that make real-time adjustments without retraining.

Epic? They’ve got 160+ AI projects cooking. But bolting AI onto legacy workflows is like duct-taping a Tesla battery into a 1998 Corolla.

The upside: 30–50% less time on documentation, real reductions in burnout, faster throughput.
The downside: liability when the AI hallucinates or denies the wrong prior auth.

The EHR is no longer a storage box. It’s turning into the workflow engine of healthcare.

Cloud Wars: The Real EHR Battleground

EHR competition isn’t about who has the prettiest portal. It’s about who owns the cloud.
• Epic: still the market leader, but weighed down by its on-prem heritage.
• Oracle: betting the farm on a fully cloud-native stack with faster go-lives, lower total cost of ownership, and interoperability baked in.

By 2030, cloud EHRs will dominate. Not because it’s trendy, but because hospitals won’t survive under the weight of upgrades, hardware, and 18-month installs.

If you’re still evaluating EHRs based on “feature checklists,” you’re asking the wrong question. The only one that matters: which system future-proofs me for the cloud decade?

Trust, Liability & The Future: Keep the Good Stuff Good

Here’s the real nightmare: it’s not just about one fake nurse slipping through. It’s about the lawsuit, the headline, and the trust you’ll never get back.

When credential fraud hits, it’s not only patient safety at risk. It’s your liability, your reputation, and your future contracts. Regulators aren’t asking “if” anymore—they’re asking “why didn’t you prevent this?”

The fix? Shared standards, portable digital credentials, and continuous verification. Think KYC for providers—Know Your Clinician. Pair it with blockchain or digital wallets, and fraud suddenly looks like a bad investment.

We already know AI can predict fraud before it spreads—like catching billing anomalies upstream (Link in Comments).

Automation is only as good as the trust behind it. If you don’t build that trust, someone else will.

Fighting Fire with Fire: Smarter Weapons for Smarter Fraud

Fraudsters have AI. But so do we.

Healthcare credentialing can’t survive on manual reviews anymore—it’s like fighting drones with a slingshot. The tools exist:
- Real-time license validation.
- Anomaly detection across huge datasets.
- Continuous verification (because one-time checks are fraud’s favorite loophole).

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners calls AI a game-changer. It spots patterns no human could. Even billing anomalies that point to systemic fraud. (Link in Comments).

And let’s not forget the scale: healthcare fraud drains over $100 billion annually. That’s not “oops money”—that’s full-blown hemorrhage (Link in Comments).

If you’re not building AI-powered checks into your ops, you’re giving fraudsters an open bar tab.

The New Face of Fraud: AI Just Got Crafty

Remember when “credential fraud” meant a blurry diploma someone made in Microsoft Paint? Cute.

Now we’ve got AI spinning up fake transcripts, chatbots impersonating therapists, and forged licenses slicker than the real thing. Fraudsters are basically running their own innovation lab—and our old credentialing processes are still using pen and paper.

One jaw-dropper: a chatbot literally posed as a licensed mental health provider, pulling random license numbers and claiming Ivy League degrees. And it worked—until someone checked. (Link in Comments).

If your credentialing process can’t detect fraud at this new level of sophistication, you’re not screening—you’re gambling.

Healthcare is now an arms race.
Big Tech is building platforms. Startups are building solutions.
Which one wins?

The opportunity is massive: AI scribes, scheduling agents, automation tools that cut 15,000 hours a month.
But the battleground isn’t just efficiency.
It’s trust.

Big Tech is fast. Startups know the pain points.
The real winners will combine scale + empathy.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: Big Tech doesn’t enter industries. It takes them over.
Healthcare is next.

They don’t just innovate—they dominate through scale, lobbying power, and control of infrastructure.
That’s not partnership. That’s takeover.

The risk? Patients become “users.” Healthcare systems turn into another subscription model.
Press 1 for your appointment. Press 2 to upsell your lab work.

Big Tech is coming for healthcare.
Amazon runs your groceries. Nvidia powers your gaming. Palantir crunches your data.
Now they all want your healthcare.

They’re building AI tools to automate documentation, predict patient needs, and even run care workflows.
It’s efficient. It’s powerful.
But let’s be honest—are you ready for Amazon to manage your EHR, or Apple to diagnose your kid’s cough?

👉 Do you want healthcare AI run by Big Tech… or by healthcare-focused innovators who actually know the trenches?

The Credentialing AI Race Is Just Starting

Medallion’s $43M raise is a milestone — not the finish line.

What comes next? Competition. Lots of it.

Expect to see:

Credential wallets layering in AI.

Staffing platforms automating their onboarding pipelines.

Health systems demanding versions that adapt to their compliance quirks.

This isn’t going to be a “winner-take-all” story. It’ll be a race of iterations — each platform making small improvements, finding niches, and winning slices of the market.

And honestly? That’s a good thing.
Because competition means:
✅ Faster processes
✅ Better accuracy
✅ Lower costs
✅ Providers and patients get what they’ve always wanted — less admin drag, more access to care.

So yes, Medallion deserves credit for making credentialing automation a headline. But the real story is the wave of innovation it’s about to unleash.

And I, for one, can’t wait to see how quickly the rest of the industry responds.
