Most talented holiday decorators never build the business they are capable of.

Not because they lack skill. Not because their market is wrong.

Because of three patterns that quietly keep premium clients just out of reach:

They wait too long to market. Premium clients plan ahead. By the time most decorators start promoting, those clients have already booked.

They price emotionally instead of strategically. The number gets shaped by what she fears the client will say, not what the work is worth. And the client can feel it.

They position themselves as helpers instead of experts. A helper waits to be told what the client wants. An expert tells the client what the room needs.

None of these are skill problems. The installs look beautiful. The clients are happy. And the business still struggles, because the skill was never the issue.

The good news? All three are fixable.

The full post walks through each one and what actually changes them. Link in the comments πŸ‘‡

Before your next install, a question for you.

What does the room smell like when your client walks in?

The tree is perfect. The mantel is edited. The light is warm. Then she steps inside, and it smells like cardboard boxes and hot glue. In total silence.

It looks finished. It doesn’t feel finished. And feeling is what she bought.

The newest post on the Seasonal Rich blog is all about the two layers almost every decorator skips: scent and sound. It covers why scent goes straight to memory, the one question to ask before you add any fragrance, where scent belongs (and where it never does), and why a little music changes the whole install experience.

One quick tip: send a curated holiday playlist with your handoff message. It costs you nothing, and she will think of you every time it plays.

Fragrance has been part of Christmas from the very first one. The wise men brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and two of those three gifts were fragrance.

Try it on your next install and tell us below what your signature scent will be. ✨

Before installs start, a question for you.

When was the last time you saw one of your finished rooms after dark?

Not at two in the afternoon while you were packing up the car. At seven at night, overhead cans on, the way her family actually lives in it.

That is where so many beautiful installs quietly lose their magic. The tree is gorgeous. The mantel is stunning. Then the overhead lights flatten all of it into β€œfine.”

Your client will never ask you about lighting. But she will feel it every single night.

The newest post on the Seasonal Rich blog (that’s 40 now!) walks you through how to layer light like an art director, why warm white is non-negotiable, the uplighting move clients photograph most, and how to fold lighting into your signature package as a premium add-on.

One quick tip: take your after photos with the lamps on and the cans off. Those are the photos that book next year.

When God first spoke over creation, His first words were β€œLet there be light.” It is still the first thing that makes a home feel ready to celebrate.

Try it on your next install and drop your after-dark photo below. We would love to see what you create. ✨

Your premium clients do not care about being influenced. πŸŽ€

Most of them are barely on social media. The ones who are joined because of a grandbaby, or a niece, or a store they like, or the golf club, or their church.

They are not scrolling for a decorator. They are not going to discover you because you posted consistently for a year.

Which means you can stop carrying something heavy. You do not need four hundred videos. You do not need to curl your hair and be on camera every day. You do not need to become an influencer to become a premium decorator.

Unless that is genuinely your thing, in which case enjoy it.

Here is the part worth sitting with. Shedding that belief makes you more likely to attract premium clients, not less. A fan wants content from you. A premium client wants a result, and she finds you through referral, reputation, and the way your work shows up in rooms she already trusts.

Build for the client who wants the result. Not the audience who wants the show.

Your zip code is not the reason. πŸŽ€

A lot of decorators believe their ceiling is set by where they live. By the local economy. By what clients in their area tell them they can afford.

Ann hears it constantly, and she understands why it feels true. If the inquiries you get are all asking for $500, it is reasonable to conclude that $500 is what your market pays.

Here is what she found instead. Premium clients are not a geography. They are a set of buying motivations, and those exist in every market in the country. The woman who values legacy and tradition lives in your town. So does the one who hosts constantly and will pay for the season to be handled. They are not rare. They are unaddressed.

One of Ann's early clients had a $1,500 budget for an entire multimillion-dollar home. She made it work, she was exhausted, and she remembers thinking the woman's shoes cost more than the budget she had agreed to.

That was not a market problem. It was a positioning problem.

This did not start last season. πŸŽ€

That is Ann on stage at Momentum Live in Dallas. Then in a warehouse with product she designed. Then on a factory floor where a holiday collection she specified was being manufactured.

Thirty years of this work sits behind the Seasonal Rich Method, and most of it happened long before anyone called it that.

Here is why that matters to you rather than being a rΓ©sumΓ©. The pricing structure exists because she lost money on jobs. The packaging system exists because she watched clients hesitate in front of beautiful work and could not explain why. Every part of it came out of doing the thing, badly at first, then expensively, then well.

You are not being taught theory by someone who read about it.

Before Seasonal Rich, there was a factory floor. πŸŽ€

Those pink coils are raw material. What comes off the line at the end is Joie de Vivre, one of three holiday collections Ann designed and had manufactured to her own specification. Aspen Winter and Majesty were the other two.

This footage is a few years old. You will see the old Holiday Decor School handle on it, and that is the point. This is not a new idea Ann had last season. It is a long history of doing the work at a level most decorators never see from the inside.

Here is what she took from it. A premium client can feel the difference between a decorator who selects beautiful things and one who has a point of view strong enough to produce them. The first is a service. The second is a brand.

You do not need a factory. You do need a signature that belongs to you and nobody else, and a way to package it so clients understand what they are buying.

That is exactly what Ann teaches in the free guide, How I Teach Holiday Decorators to Fully Book Every Season. Comment BLUEPRINT below and I will send it straight to you. πŸŽ€

Seven weeks. That is what is left between today and the first premium installs. πŸŽ€

If your calendar has more white space than you want right now, read that number twice. It is not a small number. It is enough time to fill a season, and decorators do it every year.

What it is not is enough time to wait for the phone to ring.

The decorator who books from here does three things in the next ten days.

She goes back to the clients she already served. The fastest yes in this business comes from a woman who has paid you once and loved what you did, and who has not yet thought about December.

She goes after the homes that book late by nature. Anyone hosting a party has a date on the calendar and a room that is not ready. Corporate lobbies, clubs, boutique hotels, and the woman planning a December dinner are all still deciding.

She sells the entry instead of the whole house. One front door, one mantel, one tree done beautifully is a real offer, and it starts a relationship you grow into a full install next year.

None of that requires more talent than you already have. It requires a decision this week rather than next.

Ann lays out the whole seasonal calendar, including what to send and when, in the free guide, How I Teach Holiday Decorators to Fully Book Every Season. Comment GUIDE below and I will send it straight to you. πŸŽ€

Premium clients do not find you by accident. πŸŽ€

They have a radar for it. Ann has watched it happen for years, and the moment a decorator starts showing up with real structure behind her, the right clients appear as though they were waiting.

They were. They were just waiting for someone who looked safe to hire.

That is what premium positioning actually buys you. Not louder marketing. Not more posts. The quiet signal that says this woman has done this before, she knows what happens next, and nothing about this will be improvised.

A premium client is not looking for the most beautiful feed in her city. She is looking for certainty. She finds it in how you speak, how you present, and what your process looks like before she has spent a dollar.

Elegance and structure are not decoration. They are the reason she relaxes.

Ann teaches the whole system in the free guide, How I Teach Holiday Decorators to Fully Book Every Season. Comment BLUEPRINT below and I will send it straight to you. πŸŽ€
