Waiting on a few finishing touches, but I’m too excited to wait any longer to share this bathroom remodel. This project has been so fun. My clients absolutely owned the process and made this consultation a breeze. There is more to come for this family, but this bathroom was great launching point.

Lesson from this project: patience > perfection.

Design Tip: If you’re wanting to make changes around your home but are not sure where to start, a small space like a bathroom is a great place to begin.

Trust your first impressions.

Whether it’s a space or a relationship, often times the conflicting elements are a lot easier to identify in the beginning. The beginning can often shows us what we need to do to create harmony when things get messy later on.

Newer isn’t always better. This shelf was purchased from and given new life with some personal touches and styling. Shelf styling can be quite the challenge. Here are some styling tips:

* Start by collecting items around your home that you already have before buying anything new

* Add items that have meaning or have a use - pictures, plants, small decor items etc.

* Place your taller larger items on the end of one of the shelves except when you want something to be a focal point like a large picture, painting, etc.

* Place items that are the same color, texture, or size diagonal from each other and not on the same shelf

* Focus on creating a cohesive feel. The items on your shelves will look like they belong if they echo the other colors and textures in the room they’re in. If you introduce a new color on your shelf be sure to add that same color to your living space.

Sending encouragement to anyone doing the hard, tedious, and rewarding design work that is needed to make our homes and our hearts good places to live from. If you find yourself tired, discouraged, or uninspired try:

- Taking a break
- Trying something new to spark inspiration
- Get around other creative and inspiring people ✨ it’s contagious

Remember it’s the small and consistent efforts that will turn the tide 🌊.

Since a lot of people are cleaning, and clearing out clutter the next few months. I thought I’d share the 3Cs of organization:

Category 📋 - Start by taking everything out of the space it’s in, and place each item into a pile or unused box on the floor based on the ITEM category it belongs in. For example, if you’re working on eliminating excess drink containers then all water bottles go together, all thermoses go together but don’t put water bottles and thermoses together. Next, go through each pile one at a time and pull out any excess, unused, or re-home-able items. So if you have 5 water bottles maybe you get down to two. One for now, and one for when the other is being washed or gets lost.

Container 📦 - Container determines quantity. Meaning do if there is an empty space we will fill it. So if you want less of something try placing it into a smaller box, bin, or container. It’s the same idea 💡 as eating off of a smaller plate will help you with eating smaller portions sizes. Think of it as a proactive downsize.

Color 🎨 - And last but certainly not least - color. Color is a great method for organizing that is often overshadowed. Organizing clothing, books, etc. by color often gives us great perspective on what we already have and what we don’t need more of, plus it’s just fun to look at. Not a color person? No problem; neutrals and B&W can be organized this way too by focusing on shade variations.

When it comes to interiors, time and time again, the smallest wins make the biggest difference (and build our confidence). I was at TJ Maxx the other day, and I stumbled across these beautiful solid wood mid-century modern bedside tables on sale for $39.99 each -SCORE! I'd been looking for something...

When we travel through this life we take our baggage with us. We check it on a plane. We load it in our cars. We drag it around on four wheels, we bear the weight of it all in our souls, and we hold our breath hoping no one says it's too heavy to take with us. Thankfully there's a God who doesn't as...
