I’m tired of this mess!
Okay…are you like me?
Sometimes there’s just too much clutter.
One thought piled on top of another. Things you need to do. Things you should have done. Things you’re trying to figure out. So much going on that you can barely focus on one thought at a time.
And your mind just keeps going.
So, you search the internet looking for solutions. You listen to podcasts. You read posts. You ask friends. You hear from the aunties and uncles. Everybody has an idea about what you should do.
And before you know it, you haven’t cleared the clutter—you’ve added more to it!
Well, today I challenge you:
Clean out the clutter!
Oh, wait…
You thought I was talking about your house?
Your closet?
Maybe that car that could use a little attention? 😊
Nope. Not today.
I’m talking about the clutter in your mind.
The clutter that may be keeping you from writing the story that’s been sitting in your heart.
You know you have something to say. You know there are experiences, lessons, memories, and wisdom inside of you that could become part of the legacy you build.
But there are so many other thoughts competing for your attention that you don’t know where to begin.
So today, don’t try to write the book.
Just clear some space.
Give yourself 15 minutes.
Grab a sheet of paper and do a complete brain dump. Write down everything that is taking up space in your mind.
The bills.
The kids.
The job.
The appointments.
What you’re cooking for dinner.
The thing you forgot to do yesterday.
Whatever is occupying your thoughts—get it out of your head and onto the paper.
Then grab a fresh sheet of paper.
This time, think about your story.
Write down whatever comes to mind.
Don’t worry about a book title.
Don’t worry about chapter titles.
Don’t worry about paragraphs.
Don’t even worry about complete sentences!
Write the memories. The experiences. The lessons. The moments that changed you. The things you wish someone had told you.
Just release the thoughts.
Because sometimes the first step toward writing your story isn’t writing Chapter One.
Sometimes it’s simply making room in your mind to hear the story that’s already there.
And yes—you do have time.
Start with 15 minutes today.
You may be surprised by how much is waiting to come out once you clear away some of the clutter.
And if you discover that you need help sorting through those thoughts, identifying the story you want to tell, and figuring out how to turn it into a book, remember:
You don’t have to figure it out alone.
I’m here to help you move from the thoughts in your head to the story on the page—and ultimately toward becoming a published author.
